why can't i make it work 0-90 ohm will not work if i get it to it reads full when empty. ground ? this should be simple i must be missing something with it any help please
Is it the right ohm for your gauge? They do not interchange. You must have the matching ohm for the gauge you are using. PS. Punctuation makes thing a whole lot easier. I had to read you post 3 times before I got what it said.
I've been having the same problem with 0-90 ohm sender that came installed in my fuel cell. Have the right 0-90 ohm fuel level gauge. I've chased down everything. All of the wiring is correct. All grounds are good. Still reads full all of the time. I'm getting ready to pull the damn thing to see if maybe the float is stuck. Idk.
ok let me see if this is right one wire from fuse box to gauge. one wire from gauge to sender. one wire from gauge to ground. and make sure of tank has a good ground. did i miss anthing? not sure what 50 ohm res would do? could you please explain. thanks
I gave up using the cheap float/arm type senders. Been using ISSPRO units made in Portland, Oregon. They're a cylinder type that mounts in the same location as the arm type. They need to know what the resistance requirements are for you specific gauge. They can supply GM, Ford, SW, ect. Find them on the web. The FOGGER
No I can't. Ain't that a bitch? All I can tell you is that your sending unit is nothing more than a variable resistor and for some reason doesn't mate to your gage. I almost wondered if they were trying to match a 90 milliohm gage to a 90 ohm resistor. I know it sounds like some wierd shit but I put a 50 ohm resistor between the sending unit and the gauge and it worked. What I didn't do was check the resistance of the gage and the resistance of the sending unit. But what I did works and I've got a working gas gage!!
It sounds like you are grounding out the sensor wire somewhere.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=279162
I had the same problem with my sending unit in my fuel cell. It turned out to be a the float sticking in the tube from to tight of tolerance. I just replaced the sender, and that fixed it.
Your float is on the wrong side of the sender. you have to install it from the other side to make it read correctly.
440roadrunner. you described exactly the steps I took to get my fuel gage to work. Hopefully he's paying attention,
ok guys i started this and you will not belive what it was....... the sending unit going into the tank has a reostat that the float arm hangs off of well on this one it is on there with two screws and someone at the company put it on upside down call there tech line and after quite a while this was the out come works great know by the way they are classic gauges brand new, hopes that this may help someone with these gauges a good place to check.
I told you that on post #18. I had them do it to me in the past. Now I always bench test before I put it in.
