I think that my NOS Mickey Thompson shifter for a 59-60 Chevy with a BW T-10 4-speed is kinda/sorta hard to come by. Haven't seen another in many many years. Pretty cool item! Almost forgot about the NOS Hurst Lightning Rods I've got sitting on the shelf! Pretty wild looking with those three handles sticking up in the air like that! Max
The Beiber Linkage...Friend of mine's brother had one in a '57 Chevy C/Gas car in the early 70's...Spring loaded ratchet shifter...One shofter for upshifts, one for downshifts and a small one on the back for reverse...Only one I've ever seen...Wonder where that car is now...Had a sticker that said "1968 Winternationals class champion"
I used to have a Sparkomatic in my '55 Chev, back in the 60's. Didn't work great but looked cool in the day.
I had a 70 Dodge Charger BB/4 speed with a Hurst pistol grip shifter that came out of the floor about 3'. It was so big and heavy that sometimes it would fall into second under hard acceleration.
I had an old NOS Hurst Lightning rod shifter laying around for years.... I got tired of looking at it. I thought it would never be anythting I would use. I put it on ebay... WOW... Obviously I knew nothing about what old Hurst shifters were worth. $875 was the first bid. It finally sold for $1125.50 There you go... Thats the best Hurst Shifter story I have. Picked up an old Ansen. Handle is about 20" long with an oval shape about half way up with Ansen stamped in it. Kind of a cool wall hanger in the shop. John
yeah they seem to go from 500 - 1000 depending on condition.. im guessing yours was 3 sticks right? if a 4 stick pops up on ebay that will go for 2k i bet. chris.
I don't know how rare or cool, but I haven't seen a "Verti-gate" shifter for a long time. Had one in a...ahem...Gremlin years ago. Never missed a shift.
I was GIVEN a complete Beiber last year. It will be going in my Lark. I still can't believe how lucky I am! I was told by a guy (an old friend of Mr. Beiber) that has a new one in the box that he was offered 3k for his!
How about this: floor shifter for a mopar 3 speed selector tranny, probably cost $12 from JC whitney back in the early 60's, good luck finding one now.
There were dozens of low-end shifters, Sparkomatic, Ansen, Fenton, Honest Charley, JC Whitney, Foxcraft, Western Auto, Speed-O-Motive, CalCustom, et al, which retailed for less than $20 back in the day. Anyone seen a Cal-Equip shifter lately? Cast bronze, IIRC. Of the 4-speed shifters, Hurst, B&M and P&G were the best. I've got a NOS B&M somewhere. jack vines
DragFast was a quality shifter....I had a couple in different 55-57 4spd cars back when they were just another Hurst wannabe - they worked very well, and I bought them because they were made in the Pacific Northwest.
I have a shifter for the select shift Mopar tranny, Well actually I have 80%, no rods for it. my little brother ( RIP ) hemi46 gave me a tranny so I can build the needed parts. Lee
Ansen shifter for "one arm bandit" Olds and Buick transmissions. If you have one they are worth a lot of $$$$$.
Probably not rare, but certainly old, my father in law was showing me parts off of his old cars and he pulled out the box with the Hurst shifter that he put in his 57 Ford in 1957. It was complete and ready to install again. He also has the bracket to mount a McCullouch (sp?) supercharger to a flathead that he used on his 53 Ford. Later he put the supercharger on the 57 Ford, which he wishes he would have never sold.
