ah, the "traditional" word and the hamb sheep who like to beat up airbags. this should be fun...

i suppose the first question would be to ask to what era you're seeking to style the customizations of this car to? being that your car was built in 1955, the opportunity to customize would have existed mid 1950's at the earliest....

    - in 1955, hydraulics were being done. read the latest garage magazine for a brief basic history.

    - by late 1950's - early 1960's, airbags were being done as well. taking lessons learned from early bus suspensions and late '50s GM efforts, some people begin to use them to get low.

    - folks were cutting and bending shit to get low even before both of these options.

All of these options were done long before i was born, and during times that guys would customize your car...... i'd call them all "traditional."

Bag the Focker and be done with it! I LOVE hydro's, but they can be messy and all of those batteries and such! My bags are easy! You can only get so low with blocks and cutting springs and etc... Good Luck and enjoy the car...

Bags are WAY easier and alot more user friendly. Do the research and get a setup for a BIG car though. That cars gotta be heavy. Is it the big V8?

Ignore the crap you can get on here about airbags..like "bags are for groceries" "bags are this and bags are that"....Bags are a great way to get it low ,high in the middle what ever you want, slam it and have fun.Do what you can with the money you have.Dont worry about the haters.Packards look tough dropped on bags.

On a car like this, bags are the best way to go. Big 'Ole car with no aftermarket stuff. This car will be very cool, and I will help any way I can to get it rolling.

This is one of our club cars, so... pictures will be coming soon.

why would you want an adjustable suspension, the abilty to raise up to clear driveways and speed bumps, being able to ride real low on the highway, or even lay out at shows.....i really dont see the advantage to bags at all....(if you didnt catch the sarcasm im letting you know its there most definitely bag the mofo, youll love your car a thousand times more if you do)

If you have the money to do it, bags are definitely the way to go. If your not looking to go real low, then other options may be cheaper. But if you want versatility and a range of height, then they are your best bet. Remember its your car, in the end, you have to drive it and be satisified.

As J Gilmoore said, I think the Packards have torsion bar suspensions. That could complicate your decision a little bit. I'd read up on that before you go and order a bunch of parts.

Bag it. Use a digital controller with presets. Trying to adjust 4 rocker switches at the same time is not cool. Keep us updated. Gus
