I had a 58 Impala that someone had blown their brains out in with a 45..the family had hired a "clean-up crew" their "job" consisted of taking a razor blade to the stock upholstery(car only had 57K onnit) and cutting out the offending stains and just leaving the holes..the guy was left-handed so instead of breaking out the DS doorglass, there was a big hole in the PS windshield curve..they also put in some noxious smellum that really made it smell sicky sweet, had to air it out for weeks..coffee grounds are good for that....

I've got a crazy uncle (everyone in Texas has one) and a buddy of his had a shotgun resting between the split bench of his F-150 with the barrel resting on the trans tunnel. Apparently they were doing some night shootin' and when he went to grab the shotgun he accidentally grabbed at the trigger, and left a huge 6-8" blast in the trans tunnel.

They stopped the truck and got out, they were both deaf for a few minutes.

The transmission got a little dinged up but still worked fine! :D

  8. Maybe the door wouldn't open and he really needed a whiz, so he shot the door open?

  9. I knew a guy in Wichita that had a 66 GT 350H Hertz rent a racer. when he bought it it had a hole in one of the plexiglass quarter windows. Supposedly the car was rented for a get away car in a bank heist and the hole was from a persuing police car.
The owner said he found a bullet inbedded in one of the seats. I saw the bullet hole. Don't know how much of the story was true but it adds to the Hertzs car lore.

Local bodyshop owner was going through a divorce, had to give his wife a car. He went to the auction and bought a suicide Caddy, one hole out the roof. Fixed the hole, kinda cleaned the interior, and here you go honey!

  11. When I was a little kid, my dad bought a dodge van that had a large caliber bullet hole in the rear of it, right next to the door, and right at head level. He said he asked the guy he bought it from and was told that they had it up at a deer hunt camp and some guy shot the van with his hunting rifle by accident after having a few drinks. Dad drove it like that and never fixed it.

I had a 66' Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertable and we found a pair of holes in the trunk, going into the drivers rear wheel well that were about .38 caliber. That car we also found the petrified remains of a thumb or big toe in the drivers side drop off. The car came from new jersey.

I have a 28 Ford coupe with seven .45 caliber holes in it. Three are in the driver's side quarter panel close to the door(they came from the outside). Three more are in the driver's door from the inside going out and one is in the dash. I was able to open the door and get a fan pattern that makes it look like all the shots happened when the door was open. I even used some dowel rods to get the angles. Maybe I watch too much CSI but it seems a little creepy. I think I would like to know the story but maybe I dont.

Friend of mine took wife hunting ,told her to always put on the safety when transporting the shotgun. After hunting she tossed the gun into there new T bird, barrel pointing at the floor,BANG it went through the floor and blew the starter clean off the motor ,shorted out the wiring and fried the wiring harness. What a mess ,man he was pissed ,sold the gun and told her your never going with me again,LOL.

I did a feature story on a car several years ago that had a couple bullet holes in it. It was a '60s muscle car, and the kid had been out raising hell one night and started running from the cops. Just when he was about to pull over, the cop in the passenger seat leaned out the window and started shooting. One through the trunk lid, one through the tail light. The kid decided to keep driving, and eventually got away.
He was the original owner of the car, and still owned it when I wrote the story. He repaired the trunk lid, but just put a new tail light lens in, so there was still a hole in the back of the tail light, the sheetmetal it was mounted to, and a dent inside the trunk at the rear seat bulkhead.

The cops were waiting for him at his mom's house when he finally went home the next morning, by the way. She gave them hell for shooting at her baby.

one of my friends has his dads old highschool car (64 galaxie 500 xl) which he is driving to highschool right now, i cant remember how he found out but he said that one of the old owners of the car before his dad was hunting with his friend one day and the saw a pheasant in a field so he stops and kicks the door open hops out with his shotgun, leans across the top of the car to shoot and right before he pulls the trigger his buddy climbs out of the car stands up right as the shotgun goes of and blows his buddys head half off. ill ask him about again and comment back with a more detailed story, far out shit though, huh.

Those are not bullet holes. They are holes punched in to use a pry pick to repair damage to the outer panel. I cant beleive no other old bodymen could not come up with that answer.

When we took apart mine, we noticed there was a bullet hole in the top of the dash with the metal curled upward instead of down. When we pulled out the dash, we found a 30-30 shell nestled into some wiring pointing straight up. How it got there or how it went off is a mystery to me. Kinda neat though.

I saw a car this last weekend that brought back some bad memories. When in High school a couple brothers I knew were riding around with their girlfriends. They had a handgun with them. The one boy in the back seat asked the boy driving for the gun. The guy driving handed it back with his finger in the trigger guard. The boy in the back seat died instantly. The car is still sitting on the farm where it was towed to after the cops got done with it. Bullet hole and blood still there. These guys were both friends of mine. Wierd part of the story is they had an older brother who died after coming home from Nam in a terrible car accident. The one brother is still alive.

  24. I've told this story before, but one the guys in my VW club when I was in High School, bought a VW with a bullet hole in the roof. The previous owner shot himself in it! Pretty big hole too! The wife sold the car and when my buddy got it,he said he would leave the hole there, and he did, hahaha. Always wondered what became of that VW.

Ok. When I was a teenager working at a eat joint I worked with a dishwasher on work release from prison. He had a decent 75 Chevelle he wanted to sell. The only problem was the bullet hole thru the windshield that the guys buddy took from a rival gang and killed him. I avoid death cars like a spider on the scrotum!

Not being a City Boy. a large percentage of the cars out in the country when I was a kid had a hole of two in them. We went hunting, Threw the guns in the back seat and they would go off during hunting season. Very Very few people ever got hit. Just said OH SHIT... and put some Chewed Gum over the holes. No big deal, No Mafia, No gangs, just Crazy hunting Hippies. (Stopping at the bar on the way home).

Back in Brooklyn there were a lot of cars like that. Sometimes the bullet holes were in the floor of the trunk.

I think the owner was shootin at a snake.Pretty good pattern.
Had a buddy in a place he shouldn't have been get followed back to his car by a big guy in a leather coat. He shot the guy through the door panel and outer door skin (window was rolled up) 4 times w/ a .25 cal. auto. All it did was bounce off the coat and piss the big guy off. That's when he left.
Was at party in country. Guy asked prop.owner if he could use his .22 rifle. Went to his car (4 door about 3-5 yrs. old),rolled down the windows and pumped a couple of rounds into all 4 doors. You could hear the glass tinkle inside the door. The rounds punched through the outer skin but not through the door panel. Then he said to the crowd" leave the windshield, headlights and turn signal lights and see how big of a dent you can put in it" and gave them a sledge hammer.Drunks can beat the shit outta a car w/ a 9 lb. hammer.Guy told us HIS buddy had borrowed his car about a yr. before, took it out & totaled it. Didn't offer to pay,put it on his insurance or even say he was sorry. He waited a yr & asked his buddy if he could borrow his car. He had to drive 30 miles back home & didn't want to be stopped so had to leave the lights.
Moral: Use big bore when punching holes in cars.
