I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but he is right. I have seen complete 392s go for $800-$2000 for a good rebuild able motor. I have also seen guys pay as much as $4000 for a piece of ****. You just have to test the waters. Put it on Ebay and see.
What's the use code in front of the valley cover? Is it a 354 or 331? Short tail or long if it's a 331?
i dont think the 331 industrials had the short or long tail, but i could be wrong. you could make this http://www.victorysiren.com/x/main.htm
I've got an Industrial 331 with a bolt on extended bell, it spent it's whole life running a welder. They are practically bulletproof. I wouldn't sell mine for a grand, wouldn't pay more than a hundred or two to buy one. The correct answer remains, it's worth what you can get someone to part with for it.
There are no numbers on the valley on an industrial. There will be a tag behind the driver side head on the bellhousing mount. It is highly likely that it is a 331. The only 354 industrial was a 56A, so far as I know. Any other numbers will be a 331. If you wanna know what its worth, check ebay.
From what I have seen and read here you never really know if it's a 331 or a 354 by the tag. They were a m***ed produced engine. Only way to really tell is to measure the bore.
It runs, it it's mounted to a water pump that was used by a local fire dept. I rwally cant see the numbers right now, i'll start pulling it out today, I can see it doesnt have a built in bell housing. I'd like to find a different intake for it, the 2 barrel on the motor has a govenor.
When you take the intake off check the under carb p***age. Some are square & some are tall & narrow. The car intake won't cover tall & narrow. They either have to be welede @ the top or use block off spacers, also Hot Heads sells a 4 bl intake that covers it.
I Found the numbers on the block on the front of the intake, they are NE5640070 From what I can find online, this is a 354 Chrysler Hemi, 9:1 compression 280 hp.
NE56 354 cubic inches 1956 HP 280 @5200- Torque 380@3200- compression -9.0- carb-4BBL i agree car block. someone has swapped some stuff into that motor before ... aka the valve covers.
