Those of you that have been following this project know how special it is to me. Well, today I got her on all fours, and she is mostly done!! She just needs to be wired and plumbed. I got goose bumps and a little foggy. I can't wait to fire her up. It has been a labor of love, and without the help of my good friend Bobby Z., this would have taken much longer. You can't ask for a better friend! He's had his Porky Pig hat on today, that's when he means business, we got alot accomplished today. So, here she is!!
This car was originally a Utah car. My late Sister inlaw bought it years ago after it had migrated to California. I was visiting California from Pa. and went with her when she bought it. I drove it back to Orange County for her that day. On the way home, we stopped at a vintage clothing store, where she bought several outfits to wear while driving the car. She died from cancer a year later. When she passed, it was willed to my Pop, my Brother wanted nothing to do with it. It was shipped to the Delaware beach, where my parents have retired to. That was almost 20yrs ago. My father and I drove the piss outta this car and wore it out. Pop is pushing 80, and has slowed down considerably. He rescenty gave the car to me, so it was shipped up here to Pa. Elizabeth was her name, so I found a pinstriper to paint her name on it . I'm sure she would approve!! <!-- / message -->
Thanks Guys!! I really appreciate it! Here's the link to the build thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=349039
The car looks awesome and the story is sad in a way but a blessing in the fact that every time you drive it you will think of your sister in law! We will all be re-united someday in an incredible place !!! God bless you and your family.
It has been hard for me thru the years to find a car that "meant something to me". The closest I came to it was a 62 Meteor that I previously owned and enjoyed with my daughter who I "lost" thru an egghead exwife (not dead, just an airhead teenager now!). I have recently found and brought it back home to restore. Your story makes me feel grateful for my crappy situation and your car is awesome!!!
Congrats man... that's a very special car indeed... so.... are you going to be making it to the Harrisburg area anytime this summer now that it's done? I know of some folks down here that would love to run with ya... cheers!
One day I will wind up with the Model A pick up my dad pieced together in 1958. But for now, I'm glad he's around to enjoy it. You have a great car with an even better story. Way to go.
Wow! Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!! It makes all the hard work worth it that much more, considering all the experience there is on this forum. You guys are great!!
Beautiful car & a story to go with it ! Excellent touch under the rear window ! Take your time to finish her right and don't rush to hard and forget something . It's always great to hear a SPECIAL story of a car and one that will stay in the family ! You are blessed !
I dig your story piewagn its touching. I had the same tear in the eye feelings when I fired my T mod for the first time. When you pour your heart and soul into a car its very hard to not get teary eyed.
