I am here in Salina KS right now.

If all the awesome customs don't get you to come out- maybe the enticing aroma of a Cozy Burger will...

That's a GREAT way to do it!
Whenever you travel that far for a show, it makes sense to piggyback it with other good shows in the area, or on the way.
By going to the Leadsleds, I also had a great time at Larry Kramer's Hot Lead, Fiesta of the 50's, James Dean Run, and a few others. You'll see so many cars and people you would have never had the chance to meet, if you stay at home.
    Friends that last a lifetime!
    Could I tell stories!

Now that is the way to do it!! May as well just go for it with all the gusto you got in you Brian. I'm sure there are plenty of HAMBs on here from Reno...If not, I'll call my girl in Tahoe....huge home/garage.

The Salinas show is huge! The KKOA group are a great bunch of folks. We went to the last hoorah of the Solvang show last year...and although it was low attendence....they pulled out all the stops with what and who they had for show.
You will not have a hard time finding Cali folks to hook up with for the ride.....there are plenty who make that trip. Larry Minor and his wife drive it yearly and so do the Livingstons...I thought I heard my dad talking to them about the show in Santa Maria.

KKOA use to have shows in California back in the 80's and 90's Madera and Merced I believe. I think what happened was WCK was doing Paso two times a year Memorial Day and Labor Day (James Dean Run) plus added Los Banos & Back to the Beach and other local runs and shows, we use to meet up at runs all over the west as WCK members.
Attendance dropped for KKOA shows and runs and Titus pulled out of California. KKOA tried off and on getting a show going but out west WCK is King!

At the KKoA show in Madera in 1986 , the temp was 109 with 30 mph winds. Every one was sick from lack of fluids. Chip.

Also Lodi and Auburn had KKOA shows. Auburn eventually turned into Bailon's Kandy Kruise.

KKOA's never been able to establish a foothold in California......

    Hey, Chip! It's me...

There was even a show in riverside in the late 90's. But it was around July and supper hot.

  12. This is a great show in a very pleasant setting. The town is very friendly and is easy on the eyes with great homes and business district. Plenty of good food at reasonable prices and very competative hotels. The Friday eve, drag races are a blast!! Hope you take the trip. ~Sololobo~

Kansas in late July is always hotter than hell and humid.....the weather kinda always sucks.....the town is the stereotypical small Kansas town, for some that's good and for some that's bad.......there are all kinds of people there.......kool and uncool...........I honestly don't know why this show is so fun and cool.......but it is........
We always have a great time and there is even a pretty sleazy nudie bar that we go to once a year.................

Don't have a list, but there are plenty of motels right around I-70 and Ninth Street...check with the Salina CC...I'm sure they've got a list...and plenty of motels on the south side of Salina, down around Ninth Street and I-35, but all the action is up on Ninth and I-70...

Small Kansas town? Salina is the 9th largest city in Kansas with almost 50,000 inhabitants. It is a nice small city. Plenty of places to stay and eat, local joints and franchises both. Some great history also.

There are at least 6-7 other hotels right in that area- I-70 and North Ninth street. Do a google search for "salina ks hotels" and look on the map shown. If you need anything- send me a pm.
