In 1960 I was looking at a 56 buick to buy, the guy had a vacuumn operated cigarette disposal system in it that he thought was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

This might have succeeded if he'd only realised the huge market for a ONE finger signaling device.:p

Makes you wonder, how come none of these ideas aren't standard equipment on todays cars.

Actually I see a lot of stuff that's continued on. Hand controls for handicapped cars, seating rigs to study pressure points for ergo seat design, remote starters, braking systems that "see" and stop on their own, a hybrid gas/electric car, etc

Neat thread jalopy junkie, thanks for posting

Would i ever love to find a box of those 'special' Tennessee license plates!

  28. I have read articles where some Drive-In Movie Theatres supplied Air-Conditioning into the cars for an additional fee with a simular, albeit smaller system.

I am sure that some of our "Northern" friends can tell us that some Drive-In Movie Theatres in their part of the country were "heated". I understand that the heater plugged in at the same post where the speaker hung. Any personal experience with either?

I once read about drive-in theaters in the northern states that gave you a gallon of gas during the winter so you could use the heater.
