A guy I work with was telling me about a front engine dragster he saw as a kid called "Turantula". I tried to find pictures of it, but only found pictures of the toy model. Nothing showing the real thing. Does anyone have any info on this? Heres what it supposedly looked like: http://www.carmodel.net/itemsPhotosEncrypter.php?0-27991.jpg I tried searching the forum, but only come it with posts about the edelbrock turantula intake
I was thinking it may never have been real. Just a model. But that would mean this guy I talked to is lying or mistaken. Im not ruling that out.
Maybe he was thinking SCORPION......http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=17866447
i think it was a Tom Daniels creation, only in model form. i believe he's also the guy who did the red baron, and the bad medicine dragster as well as others. try googleing Tom Daniels.
http://http://www.showrods.com/gallery_pages/2002_contest/trantula.html T'rantula was a scale model only, no full size was ever built. Same deal with the S'Cool Bus. http://http://www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/scool_bus.html There was and I think still is a full scale of the Red Baron, if memory serves it's been restored in the last few years. http://http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/0208sr_custom_street_rods/photo_08.html http://http://www.drackopolis.net/BadMedicine.html
Thats funny, he told me he saw it at the strip in person. Oh well, its a cool model. I asked him if it couldve been the Scorpion. He said "no it was just like the model." Tom Daniels it is! Check out his line of models: http://www.tomdaniel.com/85_kits/frm_85kits.html Click on the names on the left.
It could be that someone took the lead and made it from concept model to real form. The model is very cool, would love to see someone build something like that. I wish i had the skill and the money to do something like that.
