Customs Bad Bob fixing his Merc finally!

Today I went to help Bad Bob fix his oil leak at slednnmatt's new shop.Actually I was hoping there would be pinup girls,no such luck.I think he's keeping them for himself.Here's a couple of pic's.He should be on the road again tommorrow.

What a great day!!!!! If it wasn't for Mercules,I would have never got as far as I did. Matt was doing brakes on his wifes car. Then he c-notched his Merc and cut his floor,added new exhaust pipe. Then when he was done,he gave us a hand. I didn't get it done,but i'll finish it tomorrow. Just needs the oil,coolant,****** cover put back on,seat re-installed,make sure my coils are seated,hook up the battery....and i'm on my way!!!!

i broke the floor in already....it will eventually get painted anyway, my money trees just arent in season yet. it was a good day we got stuff done, hope tomorrow is just as good. if you somehow rip that oil pan now, well... there is just no hope for ya we just need to find you a frame! was fun hanging out with both ya guys today.

 

well damn,...i just bought stock in the oil companies thinkin bob was gonna make me a rich man. just kiddin, i barely have money to keep oil in mine.

good to see the car getting fixed the right way. nothing like spending some good shop time with some good friends.

Im sure I just missed it but why did you pull the eng to do a oil pan fix?

#### Hell yeah !! Just pour some gear lube and some beer on the floor now so it will get the smell just right !!! >>>>.

 

He has a T-Bird clip on it and you can't drop the oil pan witout removing the engine.The threaded part that his drain plug screws into on the inside of the oil pan came lose and dropped into it.

 

It was most likely easier to pull the engine than fight with the pan in the car.
Plus if it is like most rigs that get driven and driven hard it had more than oil leak to fix.

Now, we know, the hood on Bad Bob's Merc will actually open. Man after my own heart that feels that hoods on customs are supposed to stay closed unless you are working on the engine or checking it's vital fluids.

And the Merc will no longer be able to mark it's territory in parking lots every where in Cali.

 

Just like you'd say to a marginal musician "don't give up your day job" I am gonna say "keep your AAA card". ha ha

Yep! It's all fixed! We pulled it out of the wet spot,so I could see if it had any leaks and when I looked underneath there was fluid pouring out all over the place!!! ****! I shut it off and looked for what the problem was. Turned out to be a powersteering hose. Off to Autozone for a hose and fluid, got it back together and NO LEAKS!!!
Matt was great for letting me come over and make a mess...

 

As a former longhair, I've seen the pictures and cannot believe Bob was involved. There's no hair caught in anything

 

Congrats.I guess tighting up that hose didn't work.LOL!

 

It had worn a hole from rubbing against the exhaust manifold. So I put a longer fanbelt on and it moved the line away. Should be okay now.
