That guy always wants big money for piles of junk, that's why they sit there. I got stung in the ear by a wasp the last time I walked around that yard

  3. Who was saying they wanted a '61 DeSoto 2dr hardtop? There's one right there and it doesn't look too bad, it's better than the one I found a couple years ago.

10 years? Sounds like a real award winning salesman there. I wonder if the white Pontiac had nice paint on it when he first got it.

On highway 95, Hayden Idaho is a similar "used car lot". Never seen ANYTHING leave. dont know about prices as I never stopped, nothin' I was interested in. Theres some late 50's-early 60's MoPars and I think a Studebaker Hawk or 2,as well as a non -Hawk Stude. probably 10-12 cars total. if your headed out of town towards Canada, it's on your left.

you guys worry too much about what other people do with thier old cars.

I must be the only guy on the HAMB who has had old cars sitting around not getting worked on..

Before I answer I will have ***ume that cars that sit on a CAR LOT for 10 years really ain't for sale...

That is an interesting twist on things, but that doesn't quite address the issue... I have more than a few old cars sitting around too, but they are for me and myy kids, I don't pretend to have them for sale!

I think most everyone has has stopped at a place where old cars are "for sale", but once a "customer" stops in it becomes clearly apparent that these cars really ain't for sale... My opinion is that sometimes these cars are really there so that the owner can watch the color drain out of a kids face when the "seller" quotes the price.

I learned about this from "old Milo" and "Ralph" over in southern Az. when I was about 16 or 17... I heard a lot "Not for Sale" and oh about $10,000, Ever since then I really don't bother with these kind of places. (I am 43 now)

I learned that dealing with "this type" of folks and their at***ude is a downer as well as a waste of time... I learned that young.

Does my disdain show? If they would post their prices on the cars I would feel better about them. It really ain't much fun to have to "bother and interrupt" a grouchy old man to be quoted (or NOT quoted) an outrageous price.

The way I see it, it is one thing to have your ego stroked by a dumb kid, but quite another to have it stroked by a grown man,,, I ain't going there.

Yeah, but something tells me YOU actually plan to do something with said cars. Most of these clown shoes jsut let them sit and literally rot, and when people stop by to "rescue" the cars, "nah, I'm gonna do sumthin with that one some day..." and it rots and rots...specially here in FL...

As my dear old pappy always said "everything is for sale" you just have to want it bad enough and have the money to turn want into have.

Humm, how to store your stash of cars out in plain sight and not be h***led by the local authorities. Get a dealers License and a car lot and have crazy high prices on the cars.

"Uh, sir, you have renewed your dealers license for the past ten years but it shows here that you have never sold a car."

"Well, I can't help it if no one will pay my asking prices but those are the prices take it or leave it".
Yep, the solution to some of the guys problems right there in front of us.

Naaa, I quite doin that a while ago. Plus my stash of '57's has grown so much that I don't really need em. However, don't think for a minute I forgot about the '59 Ford a few blocks away with '57 Caddys on it. :D

I've stopped in there a few times. The guy does rotate his stock so something must be "selling." He isn't a complete jerk other than asking way too much for way too little.

I know those guys. They ask too much for too little there. No doubt about that. They are all for sale. Really for sale. They are avid collectors of Pontiac muscle cars from what I know and they are also the reason there are no decent garages for rent in this area. They already rent them all. They do rotate them though, slowly. I'm not sure who buys them or if they have other places or if they cherry pick them and crush them. Once in a while there is a decent one out there.
Now the most recent news (this week) is that the front line are all privately owned and there on consignment so maybe there will be a decent deal to be had. The caddy is the best one I've seen there in 10 years with the exception of their personal cars. That 55 is a roach (sorry if you own it).

  24. Some people sell stuff for a hobby, and they can afford to wait for the one guy who'll pay top dollar for their **** to come along. Seems like a simple enough concept to grasp to me.

That 61 DeSoto deserves better than to sit there and rot cuz the guy wants 15 or 18k for it. A real shame, cuz it could look like this pic Zombie drew.

What "concept" ??? lol ,,The 'concept" fails when the car rots away to nothing

  27. The concept that it's his stuff to do with what he wants to do with it, because this used to be a free country.. that one...

Stan and John from Main St. Motors are probably two of the nicest real car guys around. Like me they were doing this before the discovery channel made every jack*** a chopper builder or a car guy and as far as what they want for there cars on the lot there only worth what someones willing to pay for them. I have bought a few fixeruppers inc. that 73 gto one of only 519 455's made that year and I got it very cheap but unlike most of these "new" old car guys I'm going to fix it up not put it on ebay so I can triple my money on it. Lots of rich ***holes go there hock the **** out of them with "I'm looking for a father son project" they get a good deal then you see the car on ebay the next week. So if ya wanna blame somebody for over priced old cars blame these rich ***holes that have turned this fun hobbie in to a big dollar business.
