Check out the rear of the frame on that bare metal truck with the sweet stovebolt. That truck and the roadster next to it are from San Jose and have a lot of neat tricks in them. You really had to see them up close to appreciate them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I looked at the roadster in Paso. It does have some very nice fabriaction work.

I like the 6-lug wheels on the 34 p/u. It really ties the whole stovebolt theme together.

    Thanks for the pics.

One of the crazier cars I saw there. Two small block Chevy's, tilted over, side by side. Don't know if it even ran, but it was sweet!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an excellent shot of that car.
No, it wasn't running, I saw them push it in.
I hope it will be driven in next year. I should have taken a better look at the motors, I'm guessing the flywheels are meshed?

Thanks to all for posting the pics. I forgot to bring my camera this year.

Tman, you are right, the cars are are up a notch overall.
Up a notch in fabrication, but most importantly, in creativity. I'll quote a friend who came to the show for the first time, "cool, this is more than a regular car show, it's more like Art!"

I'm sitting here looking at the pictures as I had to come home for my Dad's funeral.

Looks like a great day, I can't wait for next year!

    I'll be back next weekend.

Great shots, makes me wish, well for a minute anyway, that I lived on the left coast. Hopefully some of the ones I haven't seen will make Vegas next year.

  8. That twin motor car was the thing that my creative juices flowing... it's really a pile of ****, and just looking at the way it was constructed, it'll be nothing more than a fairgrounds cruiser IF it ever runs... but man what an old idea rekindled!

I found myself looking at old pictures and scheming on how to make something like that actually WORK!

Topolino body... Fuller styled ch***is... Tampa rake on the motors... and an NHRA legal cage... it could be done.

And if I ever get all these other projects finished, it might be something I want to tackle...

Overall the show was fun. Yea-sure there's always the naysayers that will find a turd in every punch bowl, but people were having fun with cars and that is what it is all about...

    Sam.

  9. why does that thing have spotlights on it?

  10. I was wondering that too...

It's such a cool idea (one that was born 45 years ago) and if the guy had only taken his time building the thing, his name would be in the history books along side that guy who built the Purple People Eater...

The thing I hate about car show shots is I always get some jerks crotch in the shot.

alright, explain to me how these twin mill *******s work when they actually run??

  14. I'm not running it down at all, I like it and it shows balls. I dont like the suicide on anything and the spotlights are dumb. But I think it is way cool and would love to see it run some day.

good for him. He built a *****en car.

couldn't you just put another gear in between the two
flywheels to get them to run in synch..??

Of course you'd have to figure out the rear end so
you don't have to drive in reverse, right..?? hahaha

That is where you have to employ the wonder that is Photoshop... I've had to do that to a couple shots, and there are others slated for more modification. Stuff like that used to be all in a days work when I was employed at a publishing company.

Overall I had really good luck with people staying out of my way when I was crouched down trying to take a shot... they'd either wait until I finished or if they walked through, they at least apologized. I think I only had to erase one picture and reshoot because somebody walked through as I clicked. One group of people even moved their chairs out of the way so I could get a shot. Such nice people! Thanks Lionheart, I think it's cool but I've never seen one in person or heard how it works. How are the ******'s mated and are they powering different axles or both to the rear?

Here's the scoop: I talked at length to this guy since he was parked across from me. It is a new build and the driver side motor will run backward. The flywheels are meshed together and it runs 2 ring gears on each flywheel for a better bite. The trans runs off the p***. side motor and sits next to the driver. He plans to drive it but not race. The banjo rear would never go for it.

Had a blast and took home the coolest trophy! "best mill"

    thanks again

Yes, just like suedesled described. I looked at it in detail and came to the same conclusion about the meshed flywheels. The trans is hooked to the p*** side engine, so that the driver's side would have to be reverse. many boats with twin engines have one running reverse to counteract the torque, it only requires a special cam as far as I know. The cam would have to use a special gear for the dizzy to operate normal direction so the oil pump would pump. One thing for sure, the old Ford trans and banjo rear would not hold up long if ran hard with two engine's worth of torque.

Snacky's idea of a gear in between would also make both engines run "normal", but then you have more difficulty to make the gear stay in place. Maybe a dual idler type set-up would work good for that type application? One gear above and one below the centerline with a tie bar?

There were definitely too many Volkswagens this year..

and my pick for best striping..

I think this year's show was the best one yet. But I'd rather see it stay smaller and on topic. Who cares if there were over 700 cars there if 100 of them don't belong. I'd rather see it stay small and pure.
Thanks to Kirk! and all of his volunteers for a great time.

Hey Sam, If you bring my A coupe to CHRR, I won't be forced to post this other photo... [IMG]

  23. Instead of posting a pic of Volkswagons... you posted a pic of your girl friends...

I'm just checking the oil and fluids on your new Model A... I'll be sure to clean the windows too!

If you don't like the Volkswagens then just look the other way! There were hundreds of people there that loved the Volks Rods and were giving their praises. If you don't like it thats just your opinion...and it aint gonna keep me off the road or away from the show!!!

If you think there were too many there this year...just wait till next year!!! [IMG]

feed one and they all start hanging around the trash can. I blame many people on the Hamb for even letting them post, VW's are not hotrods and they are not cool.
