  1. The end of an era, so much tradition. Who ever thought it would come to this? Official today, 8am. Shed a tear.

Shed a tear for all the people that work at the Dealerships they are axing. Then shed one for the guy that did their uniforms, and the vending machine guy , and the tool guy, the waitress at the coney island across the street, the guy that washed the cars on the lots......oh how sad and how many people all this is affecting. I am waiting for my number to be called

I can't believe that our feds are going to have a steak in GM. It sounds like we might just be taking a step towards communism.

  6. The tragedy is that car companies used to be run by people like us, car guys. I can't remember the last time that was the case: A major car company run by somebody who had p***ion about wheels. They are all run by accountants and bean counters. How dumb is that? Put a car nut in charge, and things will change. We have a p***ion about our rides. Why can't they?

Now that I own part of GM..I will always request..or demand my employee discount..
I Just Smashed My GMC Z-71 over the weekend..Hit a Deer doing about 75..wonder how its going to go in the repair shop..or how long its going to be tied up in service..or if they will be able to locate all the parts they will need to put it back right..probably with 100% non domestic parts

I worry about aftermarket parts supplys.
2 months ago my dad bought a brand new 2009 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. A part of the deal was a Mopar branded wireing harness for the trailer lights and electric brakes.

He has been given the song and dance about the part being back ordered.
My guess is the supplier that makes the harness stopped getting paid and they aren't suppling them anymore.

The government run GM. That will be worse the the GM CEO's they fired. Look at Amtrack and the Postal system. I feel sorry for all the employees but don't feel for the GM br*** that run the company in the ground. I'm thinking of changing my user name. I'm really a Ford guy anyway.

Ya think?????? This administration, I think, is secretly loving this. They are now able to push their automotive agenda as a manufacturer. I don't believe for a minute that Obama "doesn't want to be in the auto business".

  13. Interesting bit about the 'rescue' is that few will be able to buy the cars Obama builds . . . nor want them....

This ends my plans to buy a new Camaro, or any other GM product despite my 40 years of loyalty to the GM brands. Never thought this could happen, but the revulsion I feel towards the Obama agenda is stronger than my love for GM products. I will not support any American car company in which the Government and Unions has an ownership interest.

  17. Didn't another government try to get into the car business????!!!

Volga (Russian: Волга) is an automobile brand that originated in Soviet Union to replace the venerated GAZ-M20 Pobeda in 1956. Revolutionary in design, it became a symbol of higher status in the Soviet nomenklatura. Volga cars were also traditionally used as taxi cabs, road police interceptors, and ambulances (based on the estate versions).
Four generations of Volga cars have been produced by the Soviet Union, each undergoing several updates during the production run.

The FED:eek: can not run their own agenda with any hint of efficiency...What makes them, or anyone else, think they can, successfully guide a company like GM through bankruptcy!

Yep, they think they can run a business, when most of the politicians are failed business men themselves. they can even balance a budget or agree to remove pork barrel spending during troubled times. Were screwed!!!

Didn't the unions already have an ownership stake. 10% of the price of a GM car went to union for pension plans. That seems a little outragious to me. Perhaps they should have set up a 401K plan years ago like the other industires. Would have kept prices down. I refuse to buy a new car when the prices are so out of control that the average person can only buy the subcompact and can't even put their kids in it.

  22. Look at the bright side, "Government Motors" instead of "General Motors"...it's still GM:rolleyes:

I feel bad for the guys on the ***emble lines...

oh the Conspiracy theory's ,,what is and what is'nt.. Instead of teh Govt..and everyone else,,hows about pointing the finger at the CEO's etc who had plenty of time to adjust to a new world ,,but kept building Hummers etc and Escalades ,,cause the Yuppie Horde was on a spending frenzy !! Yes jobs will be lost ,but there will still need to be parts made

also ,,everyone jumps on the pity wagon NOW,,,where was all the concern 6 months ago ?? If GM could'nt get with the time thats on them,,They are a business that failed on there own,,blame them not the Govt.

I went to look at new Camaros last week. MSRP PLUS a $2500 dealer markup on base cars..... Still trying to gouge people, in spite of it all.

If they are no smarter than that, I think they deserve to go bankrupt.

Obama fired Wagner (still can't get over that), not Bush, but that is neither here nor there,
Obama is pushing them to build small unsafe gas misers, good by the RV, Boating, Off roading hobbies, good by the local small contractor who can't afford a pickup truck for his business, hello to a 30,000 sub compact that a family of four can't take on vacation......

I still hope GM can turn around, but I too am looking at Ford as the last Bastion of the American Car. Support who can support themselves, I won't buy a 30,000 fiat or ****box....

IMHO, GM and the UAW are "victim's of themselves". At one time, they were both so powerful that they got ****y about it and lost site of reality. It's been like watching a mighty king loose his throne-and castle.
They've killed the goose that laid the golden eggs.

Really a sobering day! GM's stock is below a buck and priced about the same as a co. that makes golf clubs.

Used to be said "How GM goes, the country goes". Guess that still holds true.

  30. If more people in this country held loyalty in any regard, we wouldn't be discussing this... customers, the UAW, the br***...even the employees themselves... drive by a car plant and look at how many foreign cars are in the parking lot...
