Something knocking really bad in the engine area, lots of smoke, overheating and very shaky. Tranny dripping green fluid.

keep bumping it up, someone on here has to be out there. tranny dripping green fluid? do you have a transmission cooler in your radiator? maby your transmission is full of coolant?

  10. Btt, I am in Atlanta so I can't help with anything but a bump to the top.

  11. Well I hope some one comes along for you. But while you are sitting there, why not have a look at some things.

It seems you overheated it good. It should be cooled off enough to start looking at stuff.

First, check the oil to see if the coolant has mixed with it. It will look like chocolate milkshake if it did.
If so, you are not driving anywhere.

If not, then get some water and fill it up and see where it is going. There is possibly a hose or freeze plug that leaked out. Maybe waterpump.
this could be something fixable where you are.

the fact that it smoked and knocked doesnt sound good, but my wife did that to one of her cars, overheated it until it stopped running. It cooled off, I fixed the leak, changed the oil, and it had no apparent damage, it kept going for years afterwards.

I wish there was something I could do to help you out, but no trailer or anything to pull it with. That area is pretty active 24/7 and with a well lit parking lot the car should be safe.

  17. Likely a Head Gasket. I've never had one cause a knock but maybe the overheating did that.

It's cool guys. I am home now but the 56 is still eating out. Im gonna trailer it home in the morning and it will probably end up sitting out of service for awhile. All this happened while I was supposed to meet someone for a trade 40 minutes up the road in Chowchilla! Damn car made me look like a fool.

Murphy's Law. I had my car sold and decided to go for a last ride. Broke a braided oil line, spraying oil under the dash, then the wiring began to burn. Now if I sell a car, no more last rides. Same happened with my '32. Easy fix though, bad ground for headlights. My wife said, "See, your cars don't want to leave!".
