Hope he's OK! Plan on a roll bar in my closed cap PU. Roll bar padding might be a good idea, too, eh? Gary

he got really lucky. He came across both lanes and and would have hit the other car if he had not had some traction problems and still been a little way up the track.

he did a couple of times but kept getting back into it. He only got to make that one pass.

  13. I taked to the guy in the red roadster later on that day. He thinks that a snapped a rear axle might have started the carnage.
After seeing Mongo's pictures, he was very lucky. Prbably should have went out and bought some lottery tickets.

He was the first of two that I know of that made guardrail contact.
The second car was the American Graffiti 32 clone making the run with the black 55 Chevy.
Just complted a 14.54 pass. His left front frog eyed carb scoop came came off the carb during the run and fell down into the area between the 4 two barrel carbs. This jammed the throttle wide open. Quick thinking on the drivers part, got the ignition turned off. He spun the car out at the very end of the strip and kissed the guardrail in the process.

I guess they didn't read the movie script good before making that pass.

  14. Maybe. :D

Yep, the Desoto did okay... Didn't expect much with the 2:42 gear, kind of ran out of time after I got the 5-speed in it last week.
Ran three hard runs, then I stopped being that it was my only way home and it was still running .
The race was a great success and thank you those who came and had fun. We want to do this more often as the season goes on, then hopefully many years to come. :D
