here a while back i made a deal here over the HAMB selling an astrostar tire sign...i sold it for 35 dollars and 5 bucks for shipping which totaled 40 dollars...he sent me a money order for the sale and i mailed him the sign before cashing the money order...well on a windy day i opened the door to the truck and out went the money order..i was not able to catch it...so i thought that was 40 dollars just gone for me to never see again..i sent a PM to the guy who bought it and asked if he could ust cancel it so that nobody else can cash it...his reply was yes that he would and he would send me another...today i recieved a payment from him of 50 dollars which is ten bucks more...this guy had already gotten his sign and alot of people would say F*CK IT im not paying...well this guy was an honest man and sent me money for it...this was an HONEST HAMBER...good guy and i posted this because i think he should recieve some credit on it...and by the way everyone...is name on here is RUSTRODDER...hes from pataskala, ohio...give this guy som props and hopefully we can keep these kind of people on here...thanks for everyones time...

Rustrodder probably feels almost as good about doing the right thing as you do, except maybe just a teensy bit embar***ed now. And maybe some day you'll get the chance to pay it forward.

But then, here in the midwest, that's just how we do things!:D

Character is what compels men to do the right thing when there is no consquence to it and no ones looking.

I agree the farther from the Right and Left coast you are the more common this behavior is.

I would say there are probably thousands more honest HAMBers than dishonest ones, the dishonest ones get all the press...

I have had great experiences dealing with HAMBers... Bought a radiator from HotrodF1, a stand up guy,,,, breeder sent me a crossmembers plaque for FREE..

It's a sad age when just being an honest, good guy gets you a rave. And yet here we are. There are still a bunch of us who will help without thought of compensation, just a thank you-or even not that: whose handshake means,"we got a deal". I've found a disproportionate percentage of those folks here on the HAMB. My hat's off to you, too, Rustrodder.

I've shipped parts to guys all over the world and only got stiffed once and that was by a guy about 75 miles away. don't believe any region of the country has a lock on honesty more than another. just too bad the jerks get he publicity.

I am always glad to hear when someone did a good thing like that ! He really didn't have to do that because you lost it , but I would have done the same thing too ! That's just the way I am .
I got ripped off from a guy on here and never got my parts or my money back . He has been banned from here forever !
I will still buy from any HAMBer and have made some friends along the way through deals ! That's just the way we all are here at the HAMB ! :D

well i have had a few negative experiences with HAMBers...but in general id say that they are great people...hot rodding goes farther than a hobby...it is a lifestyle..and hotrodders are great people trying to help one another out...these people who like to screw you in a deal...they are not hotrodders..the do not live the lifestyle...

I like to tell my story when I get a chance. I needed an oil pump screen for my nailhead when I was new on here. Marko (rarely seen these days) sent me one (with the pump attached). He wouldn't even take shipping. This is to the other side of the planet, you understand.

I sent him back some Aussie mags.

At the time it blew me away that this kind of stuff still goes on....if only here.
