  1. I'll admit I've used the dishwasher to clean carburettor bodys before, but not engine internals. You either have balls the size of g****fruit or you're just plain old crazy ! :p

I did have to get out the cleaner to clean the gray scuff marks off the white porcilin but that's a regular job around here anyway. It did have a funky aroma while it was steam cleaning those M/T's though...lol

  3. OK, its half way done and looks sparkling clean. But I think that I will have to pull everything out and soak in oil as everything is dry between cycles and some parts have a bit of surface rust forming!! Man that dishwasher soap must be costic!!

  4. So you think Gas residue is better than engine residue? Hey it all boils down to getting parts clean and the dishwasher staying clean. I think that the danger is getting caught by the ol lady!!! LOL!
Yes I have balls and am crazy, but I wouldn't change anything for the world. I'd rather be crazy than a normal nutcase!! LOL!! I have to go!! I crack myself up!!

If it's so safe, why do you have to worry about getting caught? It shouldn't be a problem explaining how dish soap is more harmful to her than diesel and engine gunk...

  13. OH MY GOD!!! You are paranoid!!! Maybe you ought to get on the smokers and everyone on this site for running cars without catalytic converters, and changing oil without gloves, or pumping gas without gloves, or wearing a respirator when filling your car or drinking water without filtering it or barbecuing food as it has carcinogens in it!!! Man, wash a few halfway clean parts in the dishwasher once and my whole family is going to die of cancer? Oh an by the way, I'm a member of AARP and have survived lead painted cribs, second hand smoke, washing parts with gasoline, pumping good old leaded gas, and a ton of other things and now I am about to die of cancer from washing a few parts in the dish washer!! LOL!!! You crack me up!!
    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOl!!!

Also I'm very far from lazy and I'll take the "kid" as a compliment "Son"!!

ever ask a woman if you can clean greasy engine parts in her dishwasher? they get touchy about their kitchen appliances, the dangerous part is her catching him doing it.:D

actually the oil thing no one knew about until recently, a couple of bucks on rubber gloves changing it is a cheap investment, know someone personally who changed oil for 40 years they just amputated 4 of his fingers from cancer. cheap insurance. don't think occasionally changing it will hurt you, but if you change it all the time, well better be a little bit safer. the clean oil is fine,it's the stuff suspended in the dirty oil that gets ya

  16. Now here is a guy that knows why you dont want to get caught!! I have been married to my wonderful wife for 28 years and usually I will get caught doing this kind of stuff!! I don't know how she finds out but she does. She cools down pretty quick which is why I'm still alive!! LOL!

The parts look good. I need to do this soon with some of my bike parts.

Haha relax everybody, there is nothing wrong with it, it isn't as unsafe as some of you may believe. This is nothing new, plenty of people do this without dying. Besides, health is overrated anyway.
Health is only the slowest rate at which you can die.

I did a complete 650 Triumph engine this way once; came out so clean I was amazed! The reason you don't do this when the "dignificant other" is not around is because they cannot think logically. I have had two wives and now a long time girlfriend; all three of them insisted on having towels in he bathroom that I was forbidden to use.:D

Helpful Hint - Wire wheels, are very well cleaned that way, you have to remove the top rack though. (may not work in all brands of dishwasher)

I think I would rather have cleaned parts in the neighbor's dishwasher while they were out of town.

Maybe he should have put them in the oven on self clean before the dishwasher, to burn off the diesel.
