I have been running my open pipe with a small block for about 2 years or so. Driven by many cops and they have said nothing. Actually got stopped for speeding, 50 in a 40, and he did not say anything about the pipes. I believe if you are not driving like a jack-*** they will leave you alone. At least in my are of SO Cal. Generally speaking all the LB cops I have run into have been fairly nice.

Ive been running uncapped since august `08 . The caps are under my seat just in case......the police here usually have the car windows shut and noisy heaters on full cos its usually `kin cold in the U.K. !

California recently changed the law. A noise violation is no longer based on decibles, but at the officer's discretion.

Well I kinda of agree with you but I've only had my truck on the road for about 3 weeks now. I do have harley baffles in all the pipes so it isn't as loud. If you have a 348 cam laying around though send it my way I'd be more than happy to throw it in :D.

I dunno, maybe cause I'm getting old, but, I like a nice mellow muffler. I want it fairly quiet on a trip, yet a nice growl on acceleration. It pisses me off when some ***bag ,with absolutely no regard for anyone but himself, chooses to violate my space with a piece of **** with no mufflers. I wish the cops would impound their car on the second violation. When I'm in my car, I DON"T want to listen to the **** you have on your radio or the excessive noise from your exhaust.

As long as the ticket is cheaper than exhaust then I'll just leave my headers open.
Like they say, it depends on the cop, and a loud pipes ticket isn't that big of a deal, as long as everything else is in order they won't take your car and send you to jail. Just don't call attention to yourself if you have a warrant or some such nonsense.
