Wow, I looked at the pics and saw waht a rough puppy that was and was thinking MAYBE $3,000! I was shocked to hear how much you guys thought it would bring. I didn't realize I was so out of touch with the 3W market.

Between this thread and the "5w value" thread I'm realizing I'll never get to build my dream car. Kinda depressing.

In some parts of the counry coupes like that were called "hardtops" when they were cut down for circle racing. Other places they were called "modifieds". I think that is what he is refering to. At least they didn't hack the window openings out bigger.

the 1/4 is definetly savable, you'd be amazed at what you could do in a few hours on it. the lack of the inner structure and missing parts would put it in the 6-8k range for me, if you don't feel comfortable doing the work yourself and would farm it out you'd be much better off buying a nicer body from the start.

$7,500 is top dollar. But I payed 10,000 for this pile. I think 3,500 is a good starting point.

    Before I read anyone's responses I figured $5K.

Some of these responses comparing this to a Brookville body are just stupid. "For just a few grand more than the cost of fixing this one, you could have a fake one".

If you can fix this for less than the cost of a repop body, I'd say its a good deal. Why would you want a new one when you could have a real one for less money?

Wow these numbers blow me away. I saw it and thought wow, a $500 piece of ****. No offense to anyone. Just to me its way to much of a "project" to pay 10Gs for. That would buy a damn fine start to alot of other cars. These 3w people are nuts.

Exactly what ^^^^^ he said. Tell him you can't do both your jobs. His job is to sell it and yours is to buy it.

Everytime I hear these prices it makes me think about the 32 3W that my friend got from his grandpa fully hot rodded chopped and channeled... and it is sitting in an exposed barn because he doesn't want to put a clutch in it and would rather work on RX7's...

Isn't the "hard-top" treatment where they make a car into a circle track racer? They were called hard tops.

I love your car. That is exactly what I would want for a hot rod. Maybe someday. Leave the patina !

Last time I checked the economy is in the toilet. Go ahead and insult the guy with a below-the-belt offer... why not? He's insulting your intelligence with his lousy tactics, "make me an offer" has become too common place these days. Makes you want to smack 'em in the mouth, what a ***** crosses my mind when that **** falls out of some fools mouth! The way that metal is rotting away, he's holding a polished turd and scratching his ***, hoping to sweet Jesus that some schmuck pulls out his fat wallet.

If his tighty-whities get in a bundle, walk away, hit him up in 6 months later for $500.00 less than your initial offer. You're out nothing with everything to gain! My bet is he'll still have the turd and still be scratchin' himself.

Tody's economy won't matter much. Huge demand & not very many out there. People still pay big bucks for 3 windows.

That said- I had a chance at this years ago. Still have the pic to add to the pain. Originally- thought I would score it for 5k, but he got wind of what they were going for & it instantly was not for sale.

    Nice 60's chop too.
Sits in garage & collects dust to this day.

  20. this looks like a body that was stripped of all its good parts and tossed out back to rot or used as a roundy round car body and THEN discarded for good. Folks....junk is junk, no matter if its a duesenberg rotting in a field, a yugo rotting in a field, or a deuce 3 window rotting in a field...they are all rotting.....Rust and neglect will do the same thing to them all. In my opinion, this one has just about outlived its usefulness, except the firewall and the upper cowl. I dont understand why people these days seem bent on fixing cars that werent even considered as good parts cars not long ago, just because they have to have that genny 34 roadster body, no matter WHAT the cost....Get a life, people!!!! Fix something thats good to begin with...its a lot less h***le...or make another choice that is realistic. (down off my soapbox now....:D)

A couple people have mentioned hardtop racing...but here's a link for those that don't know...

I'd take on that 3W...if it was under 3K.

Yea- maybe if it was a 34................................;)

    But it's a 32 3 window! Whole different deal.
    I'd buy it!

For those of you trying really hard to figure out what the guy was saying when he said "the hard top treatment", read his post again...........He thinks it WAS a 5 window.

How much of the "real" car needs to be used before it's a "fake"?
1/2 the car WILL be Brookville once it's all patched up.....haha....
But really, who cares? As long as it's bought at a fair price and fixed up.:D

  27. Sorry man but what you wrote really ****ed me off, If everybody thought like that there would be nothing left. I just made a deal on a 5w and I dont get much change from 5k and it looks like someone has been on the nose candy and someone has given them a can opener.............nothing is going to stand in my way of building my dream car, I am just a regular workin guy with not a heap of money to throw at it, but i can make up for that in time I will spend on it, and it will be allot, but the satisfaction at the end will be pricceless. Call me stupid or whatever for paying that much, but it just feels right, so I did it. Keep in mind I am in Australia and the opportunity to buy one here will not happen for under 15k for worse than the one I got. A firewall for a 32 sold for 1500 at a small auction last weekend :(
Throw that stuff you called junk my way, there are plenty of guys down here willing to put in the 'work'!

pay what you think you can get it for, but if you bring it to me to save it, leave your platinum card with my ol lady when you drop it off...

the number 3 on the door, and the exhaust exits on each quarter panel are kinda ineresting...
