Some of you may remember this engine. It was listed in an auction last fall in Iowa. The guy was a good friend of mine and I bought the '34 Ford coupe that was also in the auction. The engine did not sell. The guys widow called me this morning and told me that someone had stolen the engine out of her garage over Memorial Day weekend... If anyone sees it floating around please call the Poweshiek County, Iowa Sheriff's Department at (641) 623-5679 or PM me on the board… Thanks.

That sucks big time - I'll keep an eye out at the L.A. Roadster Show swap. Of course it may not be green any more.

You can bet it won’t be green. Any other identifying marks or numbers?

To bad there are those out there that want to take your stuff. Currently hotrods and race cars and motors seem to be one of the hottest targets out there so I say beware of who you bring into your shop and secure what you have.

I figure they probably had a truck and 3 or 4 guys anyway. As far as I know nobody saw anything. She lives in the country so who knows....

I don't think anyone wrote down any #'s from it but I'll have to ask her.

What kind of low life piece of F***in shit would steal from a widow ? That is just plain wrong ! I hope you catch the F***ers and explain to them why you don't steal , especially a lady who lost her husband and has to sell the engine to pay the bills . Then when you finish with them , maybe call the Sheriff . Times are real bad and too many people don't have any morals anymore .
I am on the east coast and on many car sites all the time so I will keep an eye out for the widow .

  12. Sorry sons-a-bitches.

I'd try to go back and find all the people who answered the ad and asked for directions to the guy's place.

Good Luck... and let us know if they're caught and who they are. That way we can avoid ever dealing with them... or maybe so we CAN deal with them.

I remember the ad in the pennysaver for that auction, im from brooklyn ia, my uncle was friends with the guy before he passed. There was some serious cash in that flattie if i remember right.

  15. That sucks!

Maybe ask her which if any locals she recently showed the motor to, any locals show up unannouced to look at it, any locals show up multiple times? Anybody come over to her garage with their friends to look at it? It sounds like local thieves that are into cars, know the area and possibly knew she would be out of the house. Ask her if she had an odd feeling about any of them.

I know you said she lived out in the country, but are their any scroungers in their teens that live in the area?

I will post up if they catch the low-lifes...

Yes, he had close to 5 grand in it. I graduated with him so he would have been 65 when he died.

I don't know how many people looked at it or what age groups they may have been. There are a lot of scroungers around, both young and old. I think it was someone that knew it was still there and when she was gone...

That really sucks and I hope you catch the person who did it. Can't be too many central Iowa folks who knew it was there. But there's a lot of open territory and barns in Poweshiek County. Back in my day, we used to call it Cow and Sheep County.
