My 40's wedding

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ooloi49, Jun 3, 2009.

  1. I just got married over the weekend on a WWII B-17 bomber in flight. They even let me take my 49 shoebox out on the runway for some pictures. I was wearing a reproduction WWII Class A uniform. (mixed with some ribbons/patches from my fathers time in the service, which wasn't WWII)..

Very cool!!! The wife and I thought about doing ourreception in a Hanger with a big band feel and all that jazz. Sort of like in the movie Memphis Belle the night before they shipped out. In the end we had to rush our wedding a bit so it never went through but turned out great.

I wanted to do something like that, but got a lot of flak from the future Mother-in-law.

  9. Congratulations! What a great idea for a wedding ... it'll make for a lot of memories.

BTW ... mister ... you need to be clean shaven when you report back for duty! Ain't no beatnik beards in this man's army! :D

  10. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like you two had a blast. CONGRATS!!

  11. my mother in-law ended up paying for the flight as a wedding present and rode with us. It was a blast

  12. These were the first pictures we have seen and they were fantastic. There was also a bunch taken of us and the car that I will post when I get them, probably 3-4 weeks out.

The preacher sat in the bombers chair facing us and we were looking out over Folsom lake as we said our vows.... along side my best man!!! Glendale: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=124

  21. Very ,very, cool! Its amazing how small a B-17 really is compared to a modern warbird. How did you even hear each other for the vows? I mean those are loud inside!! You are a very lucky man, and she is a very special lady!

  22. We shoved 7 people in the nose! but it worked, even have great video of the ceremony. It wasn't as loud as you would expect because that area sits in front of the engines. Don't get me wrong it was loud but you could still hear everyone talk. I am thankful everyday that she is so amazing... so for that reason the wedding had to be just as amazing!
