Real steel 32 fords are like a dream but something is off ! I listed a 32 ford 4 door and am still trying to sell it. Price is break even if that.
She has her sins like the old school frame, but i was told it was because it kept doing wheel stands as a drag car in the sixties. Somewhere near albany.
Made into a streetrod, some made good modifications and some are crude, but it all works. I got it on a pallet and tried to make some sense out of what i had with extra parts and a lot of parts from speedway.
I never painted the body because i thought it was too nice.
I have another 32 to drive so i really don't want to tear this thing apart.
Need some input, what shoud i do with it?

Typically I have found that if a car is not selling it is due to two basic reasons.

    a) the marketing or advertising is poor at best. Bad pictures or NO pictures. Incomplete information. Incomplete contact information, etc. OR

    b) the car is over priced.

I think you have two problems... And those would be the two extra doors. The market for four doors is very small.

I don't want to get into it, but I disagree when it comes to 32's. While I would never own a 4-door personally, they have become more popular than a lot of people would think. I believe this mostly has to do with the fact that it is the only '32 most people can afford on a normal paycheck and they can be great hot rods for families. We sold one at a good price about 3 months ago and we have another one in the shop right now being built for a customer.
That being said, where else are you advertising? If you are only posting it on the HAMB, try Cl***ic Car Trader, Hemmings, Craigslist, or the dreaded Ebay. The more exposure you can get the better.

What's up with the big goofy tank in front of the insert-less grille shell? The hood looks like it's running uphill, it's got a weird shroud that starts at the rear fender openings and goes behind the car underneath the body, plus the hillbilly exhaust isn't doing it any favors.

It's just an opinion, and don't take it the wrong way, but I think perspective buyers are going to want to change out the frame and undo a lot of the old mods, and 13K is a lot of money to pay for a channeled 4 door body and an ***ortment of extra parts.

Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but in NY it doesn't have a regular ***le. That's a big deal to guys who live in states like Wisconsin who won't accept a NY registration in lieu of a ***le.

The production figures I looked at for 1932 show that there were fewer 4 doors made than 2 doors. You would think being more rare would be a selling point. From the photos,I think the main holdback for it would be that you are getting only the body if you wanted to resto-mod it like most four door owners do.Most of the 4 door cars I see are full fendered and original framed.

I agree, very, very small market, for rodders the least desirable '32 body style. Most would probally even prefer an A Tudor body over this. It can be done as with this car, but you can't expect it to be worth what other '32 body styles bring, it's just not gonna happen.

    Exactly.

It's a $7000 body with a $1000 engine & some other ***orted parts. If someone wants a Deuce Fordor done right, this one might be a good start. But at 13K, it's a high buy-in for a project.

If someone just wants to hit the key & go - in a pretty cool car with room for gradual improvements - it looks like affordable fun to me.

Hey, if a guy likes a four door, a guy likes a four door. I'm not one of those "Think my way or jump in a lake" kind of guys. Everyone has thier own taste, style, and opinion.

But... (ha, there has to be a but) I do think that four doors are less popular, and like Verne said, you can get a pretty nice Model A with only two doors for the same price.

It's gonna be a hard sell, but if you're not in a rush someone will come along and pick it up, it's just not gonna happen in one weeks time.

??? how many places have you listed it and for how long?

if you just put it on here and are disappointed it did not sell you will be in for even more disappointment.

selling any car is never easy, even more so in todays economy. 13 G's don't look too bad. better if it was registered. really hard to give a value on something from a few small pictures.

put it on Craigs list and the cl***ic car Auto Trader. put it on ebay with a decent starting price and a 25,000.00 reserve. then put your phone number in the ad and sell it outside of ebay. I think they still have the "free to list and we'll screw you if it sells" program going on. so selling outside of ebay is free. the high resrve is so it will not sell through the ebay ad.

Thanks guys, a lot of good points. I guess i should have mentioned i just got a set of american stamping rails and a 40 ford front axel for the spindles. The rest of the axel is there even the brakes but needs some work. I did get this 4 door on a pallet and a few parts are missing but the body is a lot better than my 5 window i got in 1965. It still has the sills for mounting to a 32 frame but some places were trimed away. The inside of the rockers under the doors is still there in good shape. That gas tank in front of the shell is actually a seat back from an old snowmobile as i mentioned somewhere, the tank was'nt in the car when i got it. The new gl*** shell looks to be about a 1/2 inch too high but i got a 32 short shell, short enough for a t-bucket with the car. Mocked up it,..... Looked like the munsters mobile. The hood is aluminum punched full of louveres, a piece that i had hanging in the garage. So she sits. Maybe parting it would be a way to go but it's so close ! New york does not have ***les before 1973. Anything eariler has only a reggie.
