    That's not a push truck ... the Lambrose/Iacono 99 racing team also campaigned a '33 3wd Coupe ... with a matching orange-and-black paint job:

49ratfink ... I think you're onto something there ... in the early '50s, Dale Lambrose owned King's Bicycle Shop in San Pedro! :)

That's one cool roadster and to top it off they still have the thing. You just don't see that many old cars with the original old guys that owned them back when. Really a good looking sanitary car.

The (Wayne 12-port Jimmy powered) Ike Iacono Dragster and the Lambrose/Iacono 99jr Roadster were parked next to each other @ the '08 California Hot Rod Reunion.

Ike was in attendance at the CHRR event ... and sat in both cars ... I missed the photo-op when he sat in the 99jr roadster ... but here he is behind the wheel of his old dragster (now owned by Pat Ganahl):

I remember when the car was finished. It was on the local news and in the paper. I saw the car last weekend inside the building. That thing is beautiful.

I also saw your note on the seat about the photo shoot later.

All of us who remember and love the old days of drag racing are in debt to the great restorers who bring these cars back to life...this job is meticulous! Hopefully other old drag cars lost to history will be found and restored as well as this roadster.

Kirk, that is a 12 port flow thru head. The single cam is still in the block. Your right those were some torquey motors. They would really get out of the hole. Would give my left one for one of those.

    Low 11's!

KIRK! is correct ... in February of 1957 @ a Lions Associated Drag Strip meet,
    the roadster ran 11.24 @ 131.96 MPH! :

It was at pleasanton last year being towed by a very nice orange, early 50's chevy pickup WOW! Top 10 for sure. What a pair :D Nothing like the sound of one of those jimmy's! Thanks Kirk for the reminder.

I remember watching that run at Lions back in the day. You always knew it was about to approach the starting line by the sound of that GMC. It was loud and fast. That was in the days when they had flagman at the starting line, great piece of history.
