Around 6am on Saturday morning I was in the workshop sorting out the trike for a trip to Rome - I decided to replace a hardened oil breather hose. It wouldn't come off so I slit it with a stanley knife and then transfered the knife to my left hand and tugged hard on the hose with my right. The hose came off the pipe suddenly and my right hand met the stanley knife - which buried itself in the ball of my thumb up to the hilt. I looked at it for a bit and pulled it out - lots of blood and strands of white stuff came out. I had a plastic surgeon look at it whilst in A&E and he said that, fortunately, I had missed tendons and nerves. The white stuff was fat which is often released from very deep cuts. Lesson learned the hard way. Taken on my Blackberry (a bit difficult left handed).
I finally bought my wife a nice pair of kitchen knives after 20 years of marriage. She then immediately attempted to remove her thumb... Many moons ago I worked in a grocery store and was opening boxes of ketchup with a box knife. I was slicing the top off a box by pulling the knife toward me while my other hand rested on top of the box. The knife slid through the top of the cardboard and I slit myself from the middle of my thumb to just past my wrist. I was very lucky and slit between the arteries. Always, always cut away from yourself. Sorry to hear you got bit too, but the pain does go away after awhile. The scar, however, looks cool forever
Your going from England to Rome on or in a trike and we only get a pic of your thumb gash. What kind of trike? Oh, hope you heal well.
Going from Chester (near Liverpool) to Rome for a couple of days and then on to Umbria. Family and friends are flying down a week on Saturday. My friend Karl Mulcahy and I are leaving the previous Wednesday in the trike. Should be a great road trip. Here it is with its new windscreen fitted to make long journeys like this more comfortable. Next year in the 21T Modified I hope.
If I bought my wife a pair of knives for an anniversary gift, I think she would stick the pair of them in the side of my head!
how else would you have learned NOT to do that chix dig scars, and you have a story to tell..... fair trade I learn alot of lessons simularly.... it's all in the presentation to your listeners as to how cool, fun and exciting slicing your hand can be
Thanks I was eating, I was...this is one of those "don't do this because I did that once and insert story of lesson learned" moments. Marty McF.
Dude no! After twenty years even I'm not that stupid, it wasn't an anniversary...sheesh, I got her a broom for the anniversary! ...and that is one cool trike!
Learned in boysouts eons ago... never pull ANY blade towards ANY part of your body. Don't know how many s***ches that's saved me over the years.
That that fat sticking out, my late older brother had a leg wound of some sort, used a kitchen carving knife to cut the fat off. Lil mecurichrome things were fine. Thats why you have second hand. At least you didnt make the darwin list.
That's the reason why someone come up with the saying, "never wittle towards you and never piss into the wind!"
