Finished up welding 29paul's Sellers windshield castings. Heres some pics

used a piece of stainless as a straight edge to start forming/grinding front peak.

used a blue sharpie to highlight low areas. Dressed peak with course file till flat and to width I wanted.

Then "blued" the area one final time and with straight edge and scribe put
a centerline mark to reference during grindind and sanding. Stayed 1/16
away from scribe line to get it close. Sorry no pic

Luckily I had built up the peak area enuff so that I didnt have to go back and add for any low spots. After much time of hand work heres the finished piece.

Looks great. Do they come in 2 pieces for a reason, easier to cast I guess? Are they made to be ****ed together, and you welded for appearance, or are they supposed to be welded? I like it this way, just wondering why it was necessary.

TIG aluminum is my welding Waterloo, especially cast, looks like you've got it down.

Looks great! With a new casting and TIG welding you should get a good color match, thanks for posting the photos.

Dang it! Those windshield are Awesome. Can you make one for my '48? Sure it'll look a little weird, but they're so cool.

Correct -- the ones that he had cast are made to fit a '28-'29 Roadster cowl.
