I've stood and looked in disbelief at Austin 7 ch***is at swap meets. I've thought, "that's a car? Surely not to carry grown up people!" I wouldn't use the frame for anything more than the lawnmower engine they came with. Scary.
We put smaller wheels and tires on the rear with stock on the front when drag racing a VW back in the 60's.
A-shaped, with a cast front spring perch thing at the apex, top-hat section rails probably about 2½" deep at the deepest point, with quarter-elliptics sprouting from their rear ends and a liberally perforated channel-section crossmember hung below them. People have gone fast on those frames, but with lightweight everything. I wouldn't mind a motorbike-powered 7 special.
Stevie, Bryant's rolling stock was your idea? I thought I thunkedit?! You probably did and I agreed! hahahah Mark me down as one of the weird-ohs that, in the right setting, LOVES this idea!!!
It may have been one of those collaboration concepts, it was so long ago. Maybe it was my persuasive charm that planted the seed in your head and made you think it was your idea...
If you have them, put them on and take some pics, then switch them and take some more pics, look at them for a week or so and see which you like better- or post the pics. Then if you like the bigguns in the front, run it that way.
