I just got off the phone with Tim, Ratster is about an hour away with a rear axle from his Mercury. I gave him Mike's numbers just in case he needs anything else but if any HAMBers are close perhaps a call to see if they need anything else and to make sure they have everything under control as far as installation goes.

thanks everyone. we gave it our best shot and it's still broke down. Tingler, came out to help we couldn't get the bearing race out of the housing, so, we swapped the whole rearend and was almost finished and broke off a bolt on the u-joint.

Tim is going to rent a car and drive back to colorado and i'm going to pick up the 56 and bring it back to east TN

    thanks everyone for your help.

Mike, give us a call if you can.

Earl Schieb is on his way to pick up the 56 to take the car to his shop.

  9. Update-----

Tim's on the way back to Denver.....in a rental :(

The 56 wagon's not terminal, but after having THREE vehicles break down(two others completely) on this trip, he and his family opted to "get on home" and let Ratster pick up the wagon here sometime.

Too bad, too, cause after changing axles twice AND the chunk, it was a snapped bolt on the pinion yoke that finished it off.

Guys, sorry I didn't see the thread yesterday--we might have done something different. Oh well.......

    thanks for all the help..
what a heck it week with these dang cars

mike thanks for towing me to your shop...what a killer shop you have ..
not to many people would take time off from their day and then lend out a stall for a total stranger to fix his hotrod.

ratster did get the car home but to add to all our bad luck this week the fuel pump in his tahoe went on way home towing the wagon.
i'm telling ya this color combo o did on the wagon is bad luck.lol

the other 2 cars they were talking abbout was the wifes mustang- cracked the head on way out...and rear main seal on the 66 short bed -pumping 1qt oil out every 50 miles..

    tingler---- thanks for the help..

well i'm home.rest trip went good exept rental car bat dead when woke up next morning..lol

Tim why is this the first I heard about this? I am sure we coulda done something while you were here. Was fun hangin' out Friday night and really sucks you had to get a rental. Give me a shout and let me know what I can do to get the 56 back together or help get it back to Rich's.

I'll tell ya, this is what the hot rod community is all about! A brother in need and with a few strokes of the keys on the computer and it leads to guys and gal taking time out from their days to help a guy they never met before. There are no better people than car guys and gals! The trip may have sucked but you got new freinds out of it!
