  3. I sold that car to jim..It was an out of the junk yard old race car car from back in the 70's called "60/40'. Motor was set WAY back, alum firewall.Driver sat beside the motor.
I pulled all that out ,put a dash & firewall back in it from another junk 55. Took the Model A axle out of it and put new front frame rails back in it..
Jim bought it from me in October ,and had it ready to race by the following May.
The right guy bought that car !!
    Never regretted selling it..

I thought the 409 gang was accepted very well. They ran great, and were a nice addition to the weekend. IMO. Some of them flat out hauled *** ! I know that I enjoyed seeing them there.:D

I couldn't believe those old "W" motors could run that good, I sure enjoyed watching them. Like was said about photos, I took mine up to the lane as I was putting my friend in the box. I wasn't there to take pictures of every car in attendence just went to have fun and if I happened to have the camera on me I shot a few cars along the way.
This was my first time going, I enjoyed the show and definatly will be back.

I'm a member of the 348/409 group and every year a small group of us get together at a drag strip. This year it was Thompson and the track suggested the G***er Reunion weekend.
We normally only get about a dozen cars but this year we ended up with over forty. Twenty eight participated in the racing. I think that's got to be some kind of record.
I was a little concerned that that many cars might cause problems but everything worked out fine. I heard nothing but positive comments while I was there. All the 409 guys loved the G***er Reunion.
As for photos, this was after all the G***er Reunion, the 409's were just a small part of a big show.
I don't know if anyone's posted a link to this video but it gives you a good idea of what kinds of cool cars were there.

Jim, I hate to correct you, but NOT everything worked out fine with THAT many 409 cars!!!!!!!! The main problem was I didn't get to see them all!!:p

What a pleasure it was meeting you guys and watching your car run - the event was definitely a better show having you guys attend - I heard guys constantly talking about all the 409's all weekend long!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep, that is the one alright! Nice video! Thanks...

  17. I guess I stirred up some comments here, I posted about the pictures perhaps before I saw all that were taken. I'm glad everyone enjoyed and appreciated the gathering. It was truly I believe the largest gathering of 409's at least eastward. I know the three of us regret not bringing our own 409 Impalas as we had planned but it will happen next year. Two weeks prior Jerry held a house party for quite a few 409 guys out here in the Baltimore area and considering the weather it was a great turnout. Thanks Jerry, I know everybody appreciated all the effort that you put into it. We all got to view a 14,000 mile original 63 409 with a rare white vinyl roof, too cool! At Thompson it was a pleasure talking with George, Carl, Ray, and Jim and watching you guys race, and the Z-11 talk at the hotel was informative. Looking forward to next year.:) Greg.

Did anyone get a pic of that RoadRunner? A friend of mine thinks it might be the one his brother owned and would be interested in seeing a pic.

yes it is and thanks.it wasnt running as good as i was 2 years ago.this years best time was 11.64 at 115mph.im not sure why i lost 3 tenths{changed heads from 62cc to 50cc}it may be because of the wheelies, but its worth a couple tenths!!!!!my computer crashed tuesday with all of my pics.i lost all of the ones of me painting it.i think my wife has all of the otherones on disks somewhere.i thought i blue the motor on my first round win{30psi oil at 7000rpm,2 at idle}but i started it up monday and it has 45 at idle and 65 at 1700.i think it is the byp*** spring behind the oil filter sticking.i got a block off plate for it yesterday but cant cheak to see if its going to work till i take it to thompson in a couple of weeks.
