This '31 Victoria was sitting in the same place for 3 or 4 years. The shop is just around the corner from a family business that I've hung around since I was a kid and now work in. I drove by it a few times before I moved to Austin. 2 years later, I moved back; and there it was. Still sitting there....

I stopped in. Talked to the owner. Seamed nice enough. He allowed me to look around and open the doors and what not. I didn't open the hood, cause I figured what the hell.... I'll tell him I'd really like to buy it. I'll leave him my contact info and stop in a few months later. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it would have made a great driver, good trader, or even chum for the swap meets.

Well I guess I waited a few days too long....
And I guess I ***umed he was a nice guy... (j/k I'm sure he is)
    and well, he never called.

It wasn't there yesterday when I stopped in again to check in with him. He sold it 3 days earlier for 2000.00

Well, here it is... or was in my case.

Dam that would have been a hell of s score! There is a fine line between showing a real persistent interest in a car and buggin' the hell out of them. Seems like you read that one wrong. Better luck next time.

The guy has to be yanking you, for sure if it sat as long as you said, he'd have had a dozen plus offers in the past and probably had a good idea what he could get for it.

I'm sure it went for mre than 2K

    yeah, he's kidding you. . .

  19. If he did sell it, you'll soon see it on eBay, CL, or at a local meet or in a local paper with the price greatly inflated.

Probably wasn't air conditioned and didn't have navigation and heated seats. Probably wasn't even fuel injected and it had that flat tire. I don't know, I wouldn't even worry about it. It was old, too.

the rest of the story is that he sold it to a friend and he was gonna restore it and get it running well again. "I was too sick about the price to say anything more than "I'd have considered twice that amount."
but ... there's shoulda and woulda, and their ugly sister coulda.

Whether it's true or not... your guess is as good as mine. However, none of us know "**** from shinola" when it comes to whether or not he's tellin the truth or not.
So all your insights about me gettin ****ed with are the same as him blowin smoke.

The best odds, are on the money that's betting he's ********ting... but that still remains unseen.

The guy I bought my 61 from was asking $3200 for it at a swap meet. After I bought it, he changed the price to $8200 just to mess with people! He said he even had peole say at that it was a deal!

That would be my take as well. Just by the shea number of guys coming up and asking him if it was for sale and possibly leaving offers he new what it was worth. He's ****ing with your mind.

I think he's messing with you. I would've said that he might not have known what he had, but if it had been there that long then that's probaly not the case. He just wants to get rid of you.
