need help with casting #'s. went to mortec.com my number was not listed. 353049 big block chevy motor there is also B2476 which it said was Feb.24 1976. also GM7T Thanks for any help.
I couldn't find that number using a couple of different sources one is here http://www.ajgeneral.com/bbc_block_casting_numbers/ It appears that it should have more numbers on it. That is the casting number on the left rear flange on the block behind #7 cylinder isn't it and not a stamped number on the pad on the front of the right bank? I had to hunt but 353049 is the casting number for the *head* not the block for this= 353049.....73-84...oval...OPEN...454, 122cc chamber, 255/119cc ports found here in the big block cylinder head section http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm
Why do chevy guys just ***ume that when they say big block or small block everyone will just know it is a chevy? This has irritated me for years!!!!

thanks to all who spent a moment helping me out. ajmopar, no offense intended. I was more worried about the info i was going to post.
It's a secret society, we throw out a code number and other society members automatically decode it. I know a batch of Mopar freaks who are way more into it than we are though. They are either racers or chalk mark restorers though.
