OK guys here is what I am thinking of trying. I will not be doing any of the work so don't worry about my lack of talent because that is a good variable to take out of this problem. I'm thinking of painting my 54 2 dr hardtop gold metalflake and then do the top in silver metalflake as well as the rear quarter stripe. Will that work together? Here is the other part of it. I'm thinking of doing an old custom style interior with rolls and pleats and big diamonds and whatnot and using gold zodiac metalflake for the majority with silver zodiac metalflake for the inserts. Can I match the paint to the zodiac? will it be too much? am i crazy? I think it would look good only if its pulled off perfectly. what do you guys think?
BLACK! No Silver anywhere on it. Or Dark blue and silver, but the guys are right Raider mobile. Also I like the White top Black combo on a hardtop, harder to pul off on a sedan. Sedans tend to look like cop cars in the B/W. But paint it however you want you have to drive it. The wheels & gl*** color will have a huge affect on the combination as well so keep that in mind. The gold needs to be as a very moderate accent as it becomes overpowering and tacky when used without restraint. You could use gold piping on your seats and do the rest in a more subtle base tone which matches the wheel color and interior scheme. Also if you are using pattern in your upholstery pick a 50's era pattern and it will always look right no matter what you do pleat wise. Good luck, Tim
If you do, paint it the gold and silver you could do different size flakes to set it a little more apart. If done right it should look pretty tough, but it could end up looking flamboyant(sp?). imo. but go for it.
If you have the Bel Aire trim dark blue, the stuff on a Mercedes or Audi. Roof and quarter panel insert area in that cream Dodge uses on the Magnam wagons.
whatever color you do ,just make sure you can repair it . Sometime ,somewhere ,it's going to get damaged.
my .02, I would do it all gold and maybe white interior with gold zodiac accents, but no silver metal flake..
I'd go with one of the colors and a white top to make things simple. Simple customs are happy customs.
