I had a 700 R4 of unknown year rebuilt to install in a '34 Chevy roadster. Car is done and drives BUT with motor off, trans in neutral, you can't push or move the car backwards. Was told that there were a couple years GM made the trans where this is a problem? Can this be fixed by just pulling the pan OR does the trans have to come out? Whats the "fix". Thanks
If you look at the trans case on the p***enger side just above the pan there is a group of numbers and letters the first digit is the year of the trans. it is also on the edge of the bell housing on some (p***enger side to). I am not sure about the problem but i hope this help's .
Yep, neutral! Rear brakes and e-brake were taken off, no diff. Someone said that GM sent out a flyer on it years ago, would like to get a copy of that. Also was told to take the servo out, shave the rod end and test, something about #2 bands to tight, just dunno...........
In theory, it might be possible if the band clearance is set too tight (is is a rebuilt unit?) Does it roll with engine idling and in neutral?
More info, I was given wrong info, it wasn't a GM flyer it was a Trans-Go kit that the info was in. Said somthing about a gold spacer or?????????
