    Hey guys and gals.

I am thinking of a new project for this winter but i got to get rid of the one i got to fund the next. So, it's a 1940 ford Pickup, fresh chevy 350 w/turbo 350, s10 4x4 3.73 rearend, brand new bed, cab corners, floor, and rear fenders, and mustang two frontend. This truck is a little ratty but even though its a little rough on the outside, it's a great truck.

All you guys in the BSM and or Cincy street rods have seen it. what would you say it's worth? All other opinions welcome.

    Thanks

$1500.00 but I'd deduct $1200.00 because it has a 350/350 combo in it.

Let's see, 350/350 combo, S-10 frame, Mustang 2 frontend, A little ratty. Well the sheet metal can possibly be saved. It should be worth $250.00 for the sheet metal.

From one FNG to another I think there giving you a hard time. I would say you coundn't find a core and put that together for less than 5k.

What is the asking price? Yeah, you are getting your chain pulled, so keep a sense of humor about it...we don't like "fishing" expeditions on the HAMB.

You'd be hard pressed to duplicate it for less than 4-5 thousand even with a used drivetrain you had laying around.
    Nothing wrong with a 350 chevy. I'll take any 383/440 429/460 or 427/454.
had some BOP bigblocks that were nice
You get down around the 400ci range and I'm jaded. I'd want a 350 chevy the 400 likes to blow up and wear out the cylinders, unless you get the aftermarket long rods and short racing pistons= "lotta more money Luigi" . Pontiac 389/400 or 390 ford are comparable and simple to build just use good rod bolts and throw in a cam..
The 396/400 chevy seems like alot more weight for not much more power if any more at all over a good street 425 horse 350.
Around 350ci I'd say 350 is the best bang for the buck but I HATE stock 350's gotta build it. move up in price a little and have a good 351W, 351 cleveland.
I am very impressed with the ford 347 stroker. I'd say a 347 stroker and an AOD would be perfect for that truck
302 is a good engine but a 347 is way better. 350 for chevy.
Yeah, I'd say if you wanted to sell and got an offer for 4-5 grand or more take it. much less and put it in storage and finish it later or save it for family unless your into giving out charity to strangers. you could drive it into the dirt and sell it totally wore out for a grand.
put a 347/AOD in it, metal in the rust and I bet you won't sell it. I'd crush it before I'd sell it to a bum for nothing. Anyone can use it or finish it is anyone that can save up enough to pay the price...Make someone that's not a best friend or family a deal out of the goodness of your heart and they WILL brag about how they got over on you and make you look like a chump.

marc wants. he happens to have a nice 302 that would look mint in there. But no money, so sad.

  20. 1.23 bajillion dollars.

I'd get it in a nice coat of black primer, paint the firewall white and ask 10 G's for it. I know times are tough and money's tight but them thats got money stills got money and they're the ones who'll try to beat you down on price anyway. The trick is making them want it and they'll only want to pay 5 to 7 G's for it if they think it's worth 10 so make em think it's worth 10.

And by the way, he said it has a S-10 rear end not an S-10 frame. Granted, with the radiator set the way it is it looks like it could be on a S-10 frame but, who the hell would put a MII front suspention on an S-10 frame?

  21. the way i read it it's NOT on a S-10 frame...just has a S-10 rear end

    if it runs/drives....$10K to $12K

Yeah i didnt give a lot of info but you guys are correct. it is on a 1940 ford coupe frame. The 10k or 12k is right around what i was thinking. but if anyone has the 250 or 500 bucks in cash ill consider it. haha

and on the motor combo, i wouldnt trade it for anything. because it starts every time and has plenty of power. what is the problem with the 350/350?? the only thing wrong with it to those guys nay saying, is that its not worth a million bucks, its not chrome or because you think it has to be stock or rare to be cool. lets all remember hotrodding is for fun!!!

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

  25. Once again, the answer to ALL "what's it worth?" threads is:

Whatever price or trade that the buyer and seller agree to!

Nothing more, nothing less. Might be worth a buck, might be worth a million bucks. Somewhere in the middle, you are likely to find your answer.

  27. i like it , and would like to own it. if it was mine the only thing i would do is put on the hood and the use it as a shop truck. thank God it is on a `40 frame and not an S-10 then i would have no interest

Tough guess. Couple grand for the box and fenders. grand for the clip and runningboards, grand for the wheels and axle, anywhere from 1-2k for the front suspension. 100-200 for the frame, 300-500 cab.
I've no idea how much was spent on the engine, cant add it yet.
probably have up to 6-7k in it without the engine not counting all the misc stuff ya burn up putting something together?
Heres a pic of a 1940 truck sold for 14k dollar
    [IMG]
It'd take another 20k to get it this nice unless you get lucky and find someone who will respect the work you put in it.
I might be coming across as a NickelDick but I never spend more than half of what It would cost for brand new on anything used so that's where I think things are worth. And that's for like-new-used otherwise I want to build it myself or want a warrantee...
Keep it and use it up, get 50,000 of fun out of it!!!
