Projects Some days are just worth getting out of bed for....THE FIND

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by saints, Jun 12, 2009.

1. I don't know what you are referring to in the last pic as a box car? There is a 28/29 roadster and a 1953/54 station wagon in that pic. Can you clarify?

3. Find of a life time, congratulations. I don't blame you for going into hock to get it. I hope that works out for you. I'll bet you could sell every piece right here and make a killing doing it. I know I'd be interested in some of it. Please keep us informed. If the "box car" you refer to is the one behind the A in the last pic I concur with coupeHEAD, it looks like a '54 Ford Ranch Wagon. They're neat little 2 door wagons. I happen to have a set of inside garnish moldings for one. the junk I collect for no reason.

a lot of kool stuff there , don't screw this up man , you could have projects for the rest of your hot rod- loving life ! Or you could sell the ones you don't have time for, and use that money to help finance building the ones you keep, and that way the guys on here won't end up calling you a dick!all works out perfect,go for it all.

In the second pic ,looks like a 35/36 Ford tudor in front of that Model A roadster , if the rest of that is around there , you might have another great project. Not that it looks like you are going to be short on projects, probably be plenty of guys would love to have it if you decide to get rid of it. Waldo

If the Sunbeam isn't a builder, it has some very good parts on it.

It has two rows of beautifully tapered louvers on the hood that could be welded into something else,
16" wheels ( forgot which boltpattern ).
And a very cool dash that could be welded into something else ( the one out of the car I worked on ended up in a Deuce )

I'd be interested in the Decklid hinges...
(and the Door hardware )

7. The hood looks to short and the body looks to compact. If he thinks it,s a European car it would have to be German Opel or a German Ford Taunus. 1950s ofcourse.

Hiding on the far left of the Desoto pic appears to be a '57 Buick.
Nothin' to sneeze at either!

Sweet find!!!
I'll play the devil's advocate.
Don't get too wrapped up until you hear their asking price for the cars/parts. While it sounds like the owner was picking up stuff at swap meets years ago for a song and may be out of touch with todays prices, folks "educate" themselves real quick when it gets down to setting prices. The internet has been a boon to finding parts, however let's hope he doesn't hit ebay and start researching what cherry Model A roadsters are fetching.

Good luck with your endeavor-I hope you can score the whole lot or at least a roadster for yourself.
Move quickly-get up there today and write up a dealbefore he starts telling others that he's "going to sell all of his old cars". Friends will help him set prices or worse yet, buy them out before you have a shot.

12. The '37 Ford pickup looks pretty decent, too.

I'll take the '28-' 29 Model A roadster, the other roadster in the second picture that looks to me like a '30-'31 Model A, along with a couple of Flathead blocks!:D

What I cant figure out is why does everyone want to cheat the owner out of a fair price ... If you want it, offer a fair price and you might not alienate the owner ... 10 years ago I had a running rough and rugged 67 corvette that some jackass offered to "take off my hands for $75.00" ... I just turned and walked into the house and closed the door. I wouldn't have sold it to him for $20,000.00. Sold it a month later for $6500.00 (fair price) to a young guy that is currently (slowly) restoring it ...

Well here is the update.....God I hate getting prices and info through this guys grandson(who works with me) I’m trying to set up a meeting where I can go out and meet with his granddad and spend a Saturday going threw it and cataloging this stuff and getting prices but......Its getting impossible to nail this guy down......I finally bugged the guy that works with me to get me SOME prices and he came back the next day with "well the coupe you want he says ask you if 6500 is ok" I’m like well did you get any other prices and he rolls his eyes saying yea he had me out there for a hour telling me where he got it and for how much it was and I forgot......I almost choked him out....I hate trying to explain to some one who doesn’t care about cars what I need(frustrating as hell).....I tried showing him the pictures I took and said can you remember what he said about this one.....well All I got out of him was the rolling chassis were around $1000 and the flat heads were $100.....So I’m trying to get the granddads phone number so I don’t have to deal with this guy anymore or get a Saturday to meet with him.....I haven’t been in the office at the same time as him so I hope he has a number or day to meet with him......I’m not backing off this one so far so good on what prices I have gotten I think there fair to awesome(the flattys)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
So Ill keep this thread open and add pics with prices cause my wife put the big Fat No on buying it all........If I get a date im going with trailer and cash in hand so I can bring home what I want.......stay tuned

Not that it really matters, but how can you tell it's a "29" roadster and not a '28 from those pics? Just curious.

Oh, yeah, if the older dude gathered up this vintage tin in swap meets over the years, dollars to donuts, he knows exactly what it's worth today, and nobody is going to get any of it on the cheap.

Awesome find!!!! that has been what most of us dream about and you happened right up on it! In photo 2 and 3 that looks like an old 40 willys coupe in the back. Buy all those rusty gems and look toward early retirement. gotta go I have slobbered all over my keyboard :)

28. You mean that '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe? Or the '35/'36 Ford Tudor? Or the '30/'31 Ford roadster? Or maybe the '73+ Chevy pick-em-up?

By the way, I think we're WAY overdue for an update, saints! :)
