Only if you don't properly price your work. Don't YOU set the price for cleaning and checking parts? Then, make it a price that makes you a profit. If it's too high, the customer won't do it, but it makes no sense to lose money to get work.

I think its called Hood Automotive. The old sign on the front of the building says hood transmission but he does machining and builds some rods and restors early fords. his place looked a little unorganized but i have talked to people and havent heard anything bad until I went there and he had some sort of problem with me

I bought a 327 here a while back and it looks good to the naked eye but I want it mag'd and hot tanked before I build it. This is not the place to go with the low bid in my opinion. To save $50 at this point could very well screw up a $1000 block. The guy that I want to do the work is a genuine grade A asshole but, I wouldn't have anyone else do the work because I know it will be done right and he won't lie to me just to get the job. You can spend a lot of money on labor at this point but just imagine if you had your car in a show and a puddle of oil developes on the floor underneath the motor...:(man...not good. I can hear the questions: "did you say you built the motor?" Point is...you get what you pay for, so, leave your feelings at home...you have a wife to shatter those for ya:eek:.

  5. :D Fine if you want to do that- life is to short though & I would give my business to someone else who is not only qualified but also someone you can communicate with...my 2 cents

I'll take a COF that knows what he's doing and does good, honest work for the money over a salesman that tells you what you want to hear while he's figuring out how he can get the most money out of your pocket any day.

And I sure don't want someone checking my parts or machining them, if he REALLY doesn't want to be doing the work.

It is a little drive from Austell but he is super nice and I have used him for many years. He also does race stuff but I have gone in there and purchased 1 rocker arm and he was just as nice as when I had a whole engine built. His name is Don
