Just a friendly reminder/spam about the swap meet in Braselton, Georgia next Sunday (October 3). I-85 to Exit 129 (Hwy 53) West on 53 for 4 miles. Across from Road Atlanta. It's about an hour from the SCarolina broder, depending on how fast you drive. 20x25 space is $20, each additional is $10each car corral space is $15 $3 for the rest of 'em to get in and find the treasures. This is a Swap Meet--no crafts, no trinkits, and since my wife wouldn't let me put a small stage with a brass pole anywhere on the field, there ain't anything there for the ladies (that don't like getting grease under their finger nails, anyway). Sorry, Insurance says "No Dogs Allowed" Vendor set up at 5:00am, spectator gates open at 6:30. So clean out your garage and make some money for your project! -Brad any questions, call me at (706) 367-1360, or email brad56@alltel.net
"Is it worth a 6 hour drive?" I'm gonna be honest and say no. It's not gonna be Moultrie or the Auto Fair. Not the first one. With any luck, it'll pick up speed and in six months or a year might be worth the drive. How many vendors? Not many pre-registered, but I've handed out about 4,000 fliers, the majority of them at cruises and car shows, and a ton of guys have said they're going be there. To be honest, I didn't really expect ANY pre-registered at all. From conversations I've had, guys will show up on the day of the show with a trailer of parts. It's the first one, and I'm kinda on pins and needles about the whole thing. I'm going to continue having them every month even if the first couple take off slow, but if it starts big that'll make my life a lot easier for Novermber, December, etc. The goal is to make it a monthly institution, so the first Sunday of every month, car guys have it always in the back of their head that "Hey, the swap meet's this Sunday." -Brad
Brad, thanks for the honest response. I wish you luck in getting it off the ground and hope in the near future it becomes big enough to make that drive. Always need another swap in the South...
BTTT. Let's make it a good one gang. I'm coming back from FL for this one. Not sure I can justify a table, but I'll be there to shop. Anyone in ATL need Riviera parts (63-65)? Maybe I'll be inspired to set up a table.
I will be there Brad. Very cool - I hope this thing takes off. My Inlaws will be in town this weekend, but I'd like to help out in the future. Anybody want me to bring 2 15x8 raw smoothies? I'd like 50 each for them They have both ford and chevy bolt pattern - otherwise I'll just be shoppin this time.
Brad,I'm gonna be there and bring some stuff to sell if it ever quits rainin' long enough to swim out to the barn and load up the ol' pickupHRP
[ QUOTE ] I'll have a table there so come on down. Nailhead parts, Mopar stuff, bunch of SBC parts. [/ QUOTE ] What Nailhead parts? I think I'm gonna need that 364 flywheel...
Not gonna be able to drive to Hotlanta. It looks like I'm going to be stuck in town. One of the vendors at work isn't delivering some rack gear until Friday, so chances are I'll be here for a bit working, then home to work on the Buick....
Shameless bump to the top...Let's help get this going. I take it that it will be at Lanier Speedway? Parking area behind the grandstands or inside the track?
It'll be in the parking lot behind the stands. Nice grass field, with paved driveways. Vendors set up in the grass, foot traffic on the driveways. There are five driveways, all close to 1,000 feet long, with 53feet of grass between the drives. The spaces are laid out so there is 20 feet of frontage for each one, and at 25 feet deep, vendors can park their vehicle at the back of the space, put a trailer next to it, and lay their goods out along the road for 20 feet. That's the way a swap meet SHOULD be, if I do say so myself. They were real adamant about not getting onto the track for ANYTHING. -Brad (did this just get bumped back up to the top by me replying? Humph! That IS shameless!
Help. I've lost the phone number and address for Cam Grant who I believe lives in British Columbia. If I'm not mistaken he was the originator of the Past Tech duval windshield frame. Can anybody help put me in touch with him? Thanks
Look me up when you get there guys--I'll be the one running around with his ass and hair on fire. YOWZA! -Brad
Look up "Stressed" in the dictionary and you will see Brads Picture. BTW...Feedback is going to be important on this one....for Brad as well as for the vendors. Tell us what you want at the Swap meet. I'd rather deal with you guys face to face than some idiot on EBay that's going to back out or try and stiff me on the payment. Oh, a little late for this month, but if you only have a couple items and don't want to pop for a whole booth...I'd be willing to consign a few items. "Swap on Dudes"
We'll I had a good time. The size was as to be expected for the first time. The place has a lot of potential. I wish I could have stayed longer and gotten to chat more, my father in-law was not ready to stay around too long. The rain at the beggining kinda sucked but didn't hurt anything. I got a set of $10 chevrolet script valve covers and a good deal on an edelbrock tr1 intake, so I was pumped. I'll be back - hopefully with parts to sell next time
The swap meet went great for the first one,,,,I got to meet,Brad54,HELLBILLY,Tudor and Stevie G. all nice guys and a lurker from my neck of the woods. I sold more ONE SHOT enamel than I thought I would and a few parts. The rain sucked but only lasted for about 30 minutes and was over. I will be back next month!HRP
