Well folks , i put the 1st miles on the 29 this week . Went to 2 car cruises , wow how much fun is this ? Almost trouble free , couple of small concerns , had to change the coil over springs to 170 lb , it road like a rock sled , muck better now , had some small coolant leaks etc ... Going to another cruise today . The most asked ? Is . Is that a rat rod or traditional or what , i call it a hot rod . And why did you do that ? Because i wanted to ! Im feeling a little shuned by my muscle car friends , seems hard to wrap theyre heads around why i did this . Because i wanted to , and the challenge of the build and the love of "hot rods" . I believe i may have given a sickness to my 8 yr old grandaughter yesterday , up till now she wanted nothing to do with pa pa's hot , too loud , too much boy stuff . Well about 3 oclock i said , honey want to go for a ride in the hot rod ? Yes!!!! She said , oops , shes crazy about it , all she can talk about ! . I also want to thank all the hambers for the support , technical and mental , thank you very much , ill keep you posted . Next ride , 55 ford f100 , chopped , slammed , wide whites and a hand shaker for the 13 yr old grandson , keepin the dream going . Todd
It hard for some people to understand, but so what. After years of owning all kinds of cars and pretty much restoring them back to the way SOMEBODY ELSE manufactured them, I like the idea of "manufacturing" something that's floating around in MY head.
That looks like a pretty impressive pile of parts you've screwed together there! Like to see it in person someday and give it a good looking over. The wheels, engine and the colors you used work together very well. Not too "cartoony" and not a "cookie cutter" car either. Hope it runs as good for you as it looks!
Zoomies 'n' rain caps, I love it. Dig the wheels and caps too. Drive it and be proud, if others don't "get it" that's their prob.
Nice sedan, the only thing I'm not crazy about is the high alt. But I bet theres no room down low. Good Job.........
Absolutely! I've been around Mopar and Chevy muscle cars since I was about 11 years old. I can rattle off numbers for nearly any Mopar built from 1966 to 1974, read the build tags without the use of a guide, and decode any Mopar VIN. But, ya know what? When I go to a show and see an endless row of identical Hemicudas, Challengers, Chargers, and RoadRunners, the fun kinda went out of the whole thing! I still have my '66 Coronet 500, but I've got a restored '37 Terraplane and a hot rod '56 Plymouth wagon to play with, too! And I find that I'm doing stuff with all three of them now, too! And that wagon is going to be MY idea of a hot rod wagon, with a 440 and 3.91 gears, to start! I love that Hemi '29! That is a very nicely-done car, and looks great!
