That's a really solid car to build, even the roof framework looks good. It must not have sat outside very much. Hmmm.....How would a nailhead fit??? :D:D:D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this thing is absolutely GIANT compared to a Model A. Hard to tell since there's nothing to scale the picture from.

I would build it full fendered, with no chop or major body mods, with a big Buick engine in it and some tall skinny wheels, artilleries maybe. To make it a chopped, fenderless cutdown rod would really be a waste of such a big and impressive looking car.

  5. Cool! You don't see one those everyday,do you? It looks like a really solid car.

That thing is SWEET!! If it was mine it'd have an over carbed 320 Straight 8, a nice chop, fenders, 16" wires and WWW's, a nice healthy coating of glossy black, and a black leather interior...Oh and rock chips...lot's of rock chips from driving the hell out of it.

Yeah, Why go fenderless when the original fenders look so good and straight.

Perfect. Buicks were cl***y auto's. Yours is great!

  15. I'm with squablow et al. It would look out of proportion without fenders.

Holy **** Batman! That thing looks like it has what's left of its original 83 year old paint! How about a straight eight? Monster car, monster engine:D.

Too solid and original to cut up. Me....I would get it running and driving first as is. Most of the time when people dive in too fast and start cutting, they are sorry later on. If you decide that you really like it, then do whatever, it is your car. Nice car either way.

Is it just me or do those big Buicks have a sinister air about them? One that says; "Build me big, black and evil!" My vote is for full fenders, no chop, lowered and a nailhead. Good luck, that thing could be wicked, nice find.

thanks everyone..i think i decided im going to go no chops, feners lowered and a nailhead like someone mentioned..should be fun.lets see if i can get it going by nsra north!

  22. Glad to see you have desided to keep much of it's original design and look. An 83 year old surivor deserves such a honorable build.

We can't wack every old car into oblivion.

that's a great looking car. not a damn thing on that body and fenders you can improve upon by cutting.

Keeping the body as original as possible is like driving a Hot Rod history lesson, I love my '28.

Big cars of this era really need tall wheels. One sometimes sees them done with some attempt at a luxurious look, but with little wheels that make them look like '80s Lincoln Town Cars, i.e. paragons of half-hearted, unconvincing fakeness. To look serious it needs tall wheels.

Your decision is right on. That car just screams cl***, and the way you describe the build will just add to it. nice find...ghost

I'm on board for the no chop full fender and lowered look but you really ought to look into doing artillery wheels and a straight 8 with some mild speed parts. It will fit the engine bay real nice.
