    Frank,

you are right, the tabs are just welded to the decklid. dave did that to fit things and left them there for me to make it easier to lift the lid off when in go to install the weatherstripping.

plus, the hinges arent mounted in there yet since i need to get rear window wood still.

and i agree on not letting to go too. but it's not my call.

  2. Looks great, when you can finish it you'll have a great tribute to your Dad. I've allways liked '34 Fords, your Dad had good taste.

Nice body alot of work went in to that and you could see it. This will be a very personal build. Sorry to hear about your father, I'm sure he is proud of you.

If your Dad had started to come around to your way of thinking, I reckon he would be honored for you to finish it for him. Family hot rods are the best.

thanks stephan. i am stoked to get hitched to this girl. she's pretty awesome.

and i think you might be right about simard. when i was last at his place, i swear i could hear his voice, but his lips did not move. and he was wearing a cloke.

    no, i swear.

  11. Ditto....

Whilst I've longed for a model 40 3 window for along time, I think that when a car such as this has a family ***ociation, it's a heartbreaking to think that you'd consider selling it, as, whilst I understand there are alot of things to consider (family wise), such an opportunity missed would be a pain that lingers for years..

On a positive note, congrats on getting married,

    Cheers,

    Drewfus

drewfus, you are absolutely right on all counts. the pain we weigh now is my mother's. can she bear to look at this often (as often as she would see it when she visits me, or i, her)? we are a close knit family and live close by one another, so it would be often.

and my mom and dad's dream was to have this built to be driven, and to travel the country together. so, she has to decide whether the reminder of that dream unrealized is bearable. or if parting with it altogether is better. and only she can decide it. and as she is the rightful keeper of all things dad's, i will abide by her wishes.

she has already given me the 5 window body which is featured in the link to my other post at the beginning of this thread, so i will not be completely without legacy car-wise. that car was to be a retirement project for me and dad, and mom thought it fitting for me to have it. so i will concentrate on that, and if fortune should smile on me and i get the 3w too, all the better. and i can do him proud twice.

oh, and thanks for the marital well wishes...

Very sorry for your loss man.....I've never gotten over the loss of my Dad or my Sister....it just comes and goes sometimes....I hope in time your Mom will see the car as his legacy and that folks are always around as long as you think about them....to be able to finish it and drive it as he would have would be a fitting tribute to him....here's hoping it happens....and congrats on the marriage..been enjoying mine for 38 years....
