New guy from San Gabriel valley, ca, I have 2 cars just purchased this month, 1950 dodge wayfarer, cool little car. I wasn't much into these cars as a kid, Fords, Chevy's you know. I also have a 53 mercury monterey hardtop, very cool looking car, putting new engine in merc soon. This is a good site, lot's of nice, helpful people, looking forward to the ride.

Ya! I just fired it up, runs perfect, car is really nice, needs headliner, pretty much just little things. I'm going to post some pix soon. I would like to find a two pot manifold. I'm going to put dual exausts as soon as possible.

    Hey ****,
Dual exhusts and a twin pot manifold sound like a good plan. Another good idea might be a Pertronix electronic ignition, eliminates points, and lots of other beni's that I can't even remember. BTW, What's the color, black?

Thanks for the Info. The car is light blue (stock), I haven't done much yet new shocks, battery, cleaned it up. I'm planning on going slow, haven't had much time. Thanks again for the interest.

Hey! thanks a lot for the info, I just pulled the manifolds off. going to split the exhaust, would like to get a two pot, mostly for looks. I'm reversing the rims, going to powder coat with beauty rims, and stock hubcaps, going to post a pic soon. Thanks again.

Welcome....... we have a 1950 Desoto..... Was always a chevy guy too. till i got married. my wife is a mopar girl. you still running the OG drum brakes?? FYI--if you ever need to replace the drum springs, check out 95 dodge caravan rear drum brake kit. a lot of the springs match up. (little side story::::almost got life time band from the auto part store for opening all the brake kits up...lucky for me the head manager is an old hot rod guy)

Just got the rims back, had them reversed. Hubcaps re-chromed I just repainted the centers(red). I'm putting it back together now, hopefully back on the road by the end of the month.

Thanks for the reply, Ya these cars are cool, I had a 54 chevy in high school, along with a 41. Never had a chrysler product until I bought a black 63 plymouth valiant hardtop, slant six with push ****on drive. I wish I still had that one, I think I sold it for $500.00 it was cherry. I know we all have these stories, I've had some major rides, that I sold for next to nothing.

Welcome from NJ! My dad has a 50 Dodge Coronet convertible that we will be resto-rodding. There's a pic or two in the album in my profile.

My neighbor when I was a kid had a new one, red, red interior, I rode in it all the time, I don't think that guy ever had the top up, loved that car. I hope your dad enjoys it as much as my neighbor did.
