Damn near every kustom in damn near every magazine I have from the late 50's/early 60's has hooded headlights. Start the trend back up. They rock!
now don't be starting trends , soon enough people will lower and stretch and big wheel, little wheel and red steelies and dropped axles, when will it ever end?
[ QUOTE ] imagine the hair as a peak over the headlights..... *****es. [/ QUOTE ] that picture shows jerry only is *** bar stripper. fitting.
I saw something like these on a car in a salvage yard that was wrecked in the early sixties. So I made the set in the picture. Shortly after that I saw them for sale from the night prowlers. Mine are aluminum and I plan on polishing them someday.
[ QUOTE ] imagine the hair as a peak over the headlights..... *****es. [/ QUOTE ] Jerry Only's "devil lock" has now turned into the world's worst comb over! I am not kidding, take another look at that picture. Now imagine what that hair must look like when he combs it back... LOL
[ QUOTE ] Kind of hard to tell from this pic but I hooded and peaked the kustom quad setup on my 57 ford [/ QUOTE ] Hey abelugo, is your '57 an old kustom that you're re-doing or are you starting it from a stocker? I was just curious because your car looks alot like one running around the Midwest in the 80s with a beautiful kandy orange paint job. I'll do some digging in my old magazines and books to see if I can find more info on it........................ Lucked out! I found it in a magazine called Hot Rod Custom Cars Volume 2 number 2 from 1984. It was owned by a guy named Don Boeke of Dayton, Ohio. The kar featured '57 DeSoto front fenders molded to the Ford's, 2 '55 DeSoto grilles were joined together to form one long grille with 11 teeth. It also had wide whites with Lancers. The taillights were tunneled in several inches and the whole kar was shaved. It had '63 T-Bird seats done T'n'R style in black Naugahyde. It was running a 312 Y-block with a tri-power. Super nice kar! Saw yours and it made me think of it. 57 Fords make great kustoms. Good luck with yours! E
Thanks for the question, It should end up looking like an old "late 60s, early 70's showcar, that was way hot in the mid 60s style but is now retired" How do you like that for "era"? I been researching a lot on what makes a true "Kustom" a Kustom, according to GNRS rules and other big show rules. Can you post a picture of that 57 Kustom, or email it to me thanks!
