Custom Grills For SHOEBOX FORDS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flatshoebox, Sep 29, 2004.

  1. I had a chance to pick up a 49 Ford when I was 16. It was sitting on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign on it... when I went to get my g/f's dads trailer, I came back and it was just getting cinched down onto someone elses trailer. This post makes me wish I woulda stayed with the car and had her go get the trailer herself. [IMG] [IMG]

    Cool *** cars. Wow.

That sectioned Ford was for sale at Wolfman's Rod Shop near here some 15 years ago for under 10 g's, it was still wearing the tangerine paint with newer flames. I coulda bought it, but I only had 67 cents in my pocket.

I talked to Weesner at VLV, those aren't in fact Studey fender sections at all, they're completely scratch built, it's a great looking front end.

surprised no one has posted a 51 Canadian Meteor grille, been lusting for one forever, getting closer to getting one.surely someone has shots of the 49-50 and the 51 to share. [IMG]

DeSoto. ('51-'53 I think!) If you see them everywhere, snag them...they are worth bunches.

I like the bullet myself. One of the reasons I got a '49. Might replace the windspinner with a skull or something scenester-ish.

The grill is a 55 desoto cut down. I have one already cut down. I also have found one of the canadian meteor grill surrounds that look like a merc and bolts in. TP

Weesner's car was a tudor sedan that was rechopped three times to get the right flow, according to him. Scott Guildner added the coupe quarter windows. I am not sure how far it is chopped, but the car was featured in Custom Rodder in primer about 2-3 years ago. Not sure of the date, sorry.
