Hows it goin everyone? First real post here (go easy on the FNG.) I did some searching and couldnt really find anything as specific as what Im looking for. Heres my situation, I have a 51 shoebox with the gas dank door shaved so the filler neck sits inside the trunk. The neck currently just has an autozone screw on type cap with a 'decent' seal and Im using the stock tank. I am keeping the back seat so the trunk area will be seperated from the cab/p***enger area. My question: Would it be safe to run two compressors in the trunk with the filler neck back there as well. My concerns are fumes from the tank possibly mixing with a spark from the compressors when they kick on. Is a simple breather line in the trunk area enough to get rid of the fumes? Should I just mount the compressors under the trunk (Id rather not, seems they might see too much road grime underneath.) What have you done? Thanks in advance
You always need to seal off the fumes so they vent ONLY to the outside. If cell phones can set off fumes, then no way am I trusting compressors. Sure "many guys have done it", but its not the ones that succeed that count,,,, its the ones that fail.
