    whats your point?...

unfortunatly in new movies you rarley ever see "hot rods"... if theres any car of interest in the movie, its always a muscle cars...

    Okay?Your point?

So it's based '53 to '55,looks like a model A vs. a shoebox Ford to me,both pre '53,so it's pretty correct for the time

I know that I am picking at a small point, but in the Indiana Jones movie the shoebox Ford had radial tires on it.

Well re: the last Indiana Jones movie...the kid rides an Indian motorcycle with master cylinders for the brakes and clutch up on the handlebars...I thought that was a fairly modern idea. The continuity guy must be kinda young(?)

When I was sitting in the theatre watching that movie, the radials on the shoebox Ford really jumped out and broke the period feel for me. Anyone else notice that?

Good eye, except it's not an Indian.
The motorcycle involved is a Harley Davidson Softail Springer which was originally built as a Springer Cl***ic but was modified to fit in with the 1957 setting of the film.
The twin cam engine is not period correct, either is the front disc brake. Neither were available during the period the film takes place.

H&H Flatheads built the engine in the 32 in Iron Man. I built it about 5 years ago. I put a few pictures of it on my web site before the flamed it.

Wow, that's a neat bit of trivia. Is the car owned by the studio, or one of the movie car suppliers, or a private owner?

There's Hot Rods in New Movies? I'll stick to American Graffiti,Two Lane Black Top,Hollywood Knights and all the Teen "B" Movies of the 50's and early 60's.

  22. Amen to that! Hard to beat the old "B" movies as well for authenticity.

My favorite is where Annette dumps ol' Frankie and slides into the p***enger seat of my '64 Belvedere Max Wedge car and we rumble off into the sunset...

OK,it was just a dream;don't bust my nuts.

I cringe when I watch any movie made after the 1980's thats supposed to depict the 50's and 60's and Have period correct cars in them.
I watched a movie that was supposed to be like 1957 and a 55 Chevy was in the parking lot with Flippin Centerline wheels and 50 series tires on it..Stuff like that will anger me..

I can't remember what the name of it was but I think it was a recent Disney movie I was watching with the kids. The grandfather was in the garage telling the kids about all the trophies and pictures on the walls. Didn't pay it much mind till I noticed in the beams was a belly tank salt car. The kids were later making noises pretending to drive an all black fenderless 32 5w in the garage.
