Ever since I first saw a friend's dad's car as a young teen I have always had a love of things Alfa Romeo. The car in question was a 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 coupe with it's glorious all aluminum DOHC 6 and 5 speed transmission. I just came across some photos of a restored engine on Alfabb.com and it has rekindled my unabated lust to put one of these gems in a hotrod one day. Enjoy....

  5. I like it!

Seems like that would work well in a traditional styled Locost (Lotus 7).

I'm with you, I've been wanting to put one in a hot rod since I was first around them during my tour in Germany. One of these days...

Engine ****, sweet little engines. Put an Alpha engine & trans axle under my little Topolino. Re built the engine and got organised to blue print and balance, all done at the factory!!! Didnt have to do a thing, all pistons and rods within a gram of each other, beautifull.
Used Alfa torsion bar front suspenders too. Drove and rode like a dream. Shame i let it go !!

If you can find one with cylinders that aren't cracked, warped, or leaking.:D

This looks like a cousin of a nissan rb series, without a pair of turbos dangling.
A guy could put alfa romeo on the valve cover and fool most people, but rev it to 7000 without fear. [IMG]

Is it just me, or is that a supercharger bolted under the 2 turbos on that rice rocket?

No doubt it came from "overboost.com"

No back to the real topic.

That's a sweet Topo - type 116 Alfetta with transaxle no less. How could you let that one go? Wait till Bluto sees it - it might have him ripping Mrs. Bluto's Simcas apart!

    Damn, that's nice.

I have to stop whenever I see an Alfa. I love them too.

Every year at Hershey there usually is a '30's era Alfa supercharged racer. I'll hang around for quite some time just to hear them start it up.

    Love them!

another Furrin 6, this time an English Triumph 2.5l from the TR6 with the landmark Lucas full sequential mechanical fuel injection setup. The first time injectors were used on a full production car apparently.

    Cheers, Glen.

  22. That is sweet Bluto, good to see your still around mate.

Glen, how hard would that injection set up to get hold of? I wonder if you could modify two sets to run on a V8?

Thank you for your support guys.

That's an 8C2300 engine ..... a mix of new and old stuff

I do need to find a 6C 2300 or 6C 2500 engine and gearbox for one of my racers

Yes Mrs B and me a lot of stuff but I'm far from being King. AND as some here can tell you I just look like an old farmer. Nothing like a King.

Once I get rid of the 1927 Mercedes 680S Racer I be able to buy more stuff.

We just rented another 5000+ sqft building. Dry, secure, and it's bright
We are hoping to move in in a month

I'm out looking for another race car for Mrs. B's birthday

So that's the news from us.

Doc, the Lucas bits are not easy to find. Problems with the fuel pumps overheating in the first few years of production from 1969 meant the system was dropped in Australian cars in 1973, and a lot of cars were 'improved' by being converted to twin SU's or CD Stormbergs right from the early years. An original PI sedan is hard to find, but I've seen a couple of rusted out ones on Ebay Aus recently for $50 and $125 for complete cars.

Lucas was developing a setup for the V8 Stag in the 70's, but I don't think it ever made production. Converting the 6 cylinder setup to 8 would be impossible, the pump runs off the base of the distributor, and squirts a dose of fuel into each cylider in turn. It might fit on a V6 however.

    For more info look here...

    Cheers, Glen.

Here's my personal battle with the Lucas the Prince of Darkness. 1970 E-type FHC. (Sorry I know a '70's not hamb-friendly.)

I think the Jag DOHC motor took a few hits in the looks department as the years went on, but it's stil pretty sharp to me.

weasel... I can quickly ruin your love for the alfa 2600 by telling you that main bearings cost $700, a set of pistons $2300.....

We have 3 of those engines for 5 cars. I have a '63 and a '66 spider, while my brother has 3 sprints. I'd love to get them on the road and enjoy them (especially the sound), but damn I'll have to knock over a bank or something first.

  30. Thanks Glen, I guess its back to he Hilborn injection.......
You know what?, that dosent ****!
    Doc.
