I stopped in at a field up the road from me and spotted this. I found 1 pic on the web of a Plymouth with the same front grille, which was a 1943. This car in the field is a Special DeLuxe, too. No motor or trans. Anyone else have one of these in hot rod form?
Ok, thanks. I started with 1940 and worked my way up....and came across this: http://images.google.com/imgres?img...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=rFz&sa=N&um=1
I thought there was a freeze, and that's why I was somewhat confused. But being this close to Canada, we get Canadian cars down here all the time found in junkyards. Can you tell I'm not all familiar with Plymouths, lol. If there's a way to modify the thread title to 1950 I'm all for it.
That '50 Mayflower is just like the one that Johnny Mantz drove to victory in the first Southern 500 race at Darlington in 1950. The win was attributable more to durability than speed.
no American or to my knowledge Canadian (since they depended on American parts) cars were manufactured during WW II. So there were no model years 43-45. Not many 42 were manufactured as production was suspended to change over to war materials production. Some 42 models may have been produced in 43/4/5 to supply military contracts. Some trucks were manufactured as they were necessary for war productioin support, but most of the car assembly lines were dissasembled in favor of armoured vehicles, airplanes, airplane engines, anti aircraft guns, and other artillery.
