You have more patience than me ...if I had it layed out it would have already been cut!
Only problem I see is you will have some work on the sides of the back window getting a nice shape...nothing some pie cuts can't fix.
That and you didn't like my advice on chopping the windshield an inch less than the rest....but that's OK!

have you considered keeping the rear window stock height? Check out the idea below and a photo of a chop I did. I think it looks way better with the rear window down to the beltline with all the other windows. otherwise, you'll end up with a little"mail slot" window=usually ugly IMHO.

and by the way, it only makes the chop easier as well as looking better, because the rear window keeps its perfect lines all around.

looks kinda like a studebaker with a fullsized window in the rear. I like them lowered an inch or two to center the window...not sure about the full size tho

    its a studebaker.

  9. Brewsir and I chopped mine with one inch less on the windshield to get rid of the "forehead" problem that f 1's have. I think it gets worse when you chop em. If I do one again I would go 1 and 1/2 inches less on the windshield and get rid of more forehead. The back window we tried stock at first and it looked to big, sounds funny but the truck almost didn't look chopped from the rear. any way, looks good now stop thinking and start cutting.

i think you should keep more of the rear window, as others have said.

No suggestions for the chop but you can take acetone to that GM column to remove the blue paint and it's black underneath.

I think the windshield comment is pretty valid. I remember how well Renee's panel came out with the slimmer "forehead".

Question, arern't all pickup tops quartered when chopping? I didn't see that in the marks. Brewsir, do you think it can be done by slanting the "b" pillar forward? Without quartering, isn't that going to require slanting the back window forward at an angle? Or is the windshield going to be angled back, bonneville style?

I quarter all the trucks I chop (except Renee's panel which was done in 3 steps) on most of these trucks a guy could possibly get away without widening the roof any but you either have to lengthen it (about 1 1/2 - 2 inches) or lean the windshield back like you said...bonneville style. But I like a low wide roof with the stock windshield angle myself....so I quarter them. Can't say I have ever seen one done by leaning the back of the cab forward...but I guess it could be done...and in conjunction with leaning the windshield back could give a really unique look....would be a lot of extra work though.

This is a 48 F-6 cab, 4 inch chop at all 4 corners, roof was quartered, rear window bottom resized to match top after it was re-attached. Metal work is not done, was our first chop ever. We like it.

Don't want to change the subject.

Just a quick question is that a special mix bronze paint? It looks like bronze in the picture. What ever the color the truck Looks great.

Like it has been said, stock sized rear window will make it look too big and not chopped. Try taking a few inches less than the rest of the truck to make the rear window smaller but it will still be large enough to use as a rear window.

Thanks, it was our first and we're happy with it. I'm at work now but when I get home tonite I'll send you some more.

  23. I think it was 4 1/2 from the doors back and 3 1/2 at the windsheild, but it might have been 5 and 4. Look at the windsheild of the F 1 with no fenders and you can really see how the forehead has dissappeared on my old truck. I just like the back window smaller but again its your truck do what you want to do to it.

    Hey Rusty,

I hope you're not over six feet tall! F-1s don't have alot of room to begin with in the cab, chop one this hard, and things get tight inside!

I wouldn't four-quarter the roof panel on a chop like this, but I'd leave the center of the top panel intact. Add or subtract metal, as necessary, around the edges of the top panel, beside the Header, Cant & Backlight Rails to acheve the necessary amount. This method will enable you to dress the welds, and keep you from having to weld through the near -dead flat area of the top panel. Too, this method will keep what little filler pieces you'll need to add to the top panel to minumal.

I take it you've never seen TINY haha....he's about 6'2 280 and his truck is cut 5 inches plus a channel!!

  29. Ah thanx buddy, 280, your being nice:) Seriously though ya 6'2" and big boned, truck had better seat position than my 05 Tahoe has. I could drive it much further without leg and back pain than the Tahoe. Even with the 3 1/2" channel it was comfey. I used 66 mustang buckets and put the gas tank under the bed where it belongs. They only get small when you go stock bench and stock tank.

  30. on my 4 inch chop I took 2" out of the rear window 1" below and 1" above the window. also 4 inches on a slanted A pillar is less than 4 inches on the vertical B pillar
