My dad is constantly finding old racing **** in his garage. This might be my favorite yet. He was a flag starter at Fremont Drag Strip from 1962 to mid 1964. He quit to go racing. HE recently found an OLD NHRA envelope containing a letter from Bernie Partidge stating the rules of his fuel license. Te letter is dated 1971 and describes his permanent ***igned TF number, number placement and size requirements etc etc. The envelope also contained his FIRST license which was through UDRA......Garlits' organization. Dated as early as February od 1965. The best part is who signed off on his licensing runs. 1. Pete Ogden. Legend. Racer. Builder ofr PURE HELL and one of my dads rails. 2. Dale Emery. Legend. 3. Rich Zoucha. Top Fuel pilot. 4. Frank MArtinez. Self proclaimed world's fastest Mexican back in the day. 5. John Batto. Baddest 37 Crosley EVER!!!!!!! 6. Gene Gilmore (???) 7. Jungle Jim Liberman. Dad shared a shop with him before he went match racing. Plus he made my dad his first set of zoomies. Thanks Dad. HAppy early father's day.
REALLY cool family history piece. He should keep it in his wallet! "But officer, look here! My license is certified for 200, and I was only going 85!"
That is super cool! I agree with Bruce....he needs to keep THAT in his wallet. I say just throw away his current D.L. haha. Thats all he needs.
Yeah ... I'd definetly preserve that some way so as to keep it from deteriorating. That's a real piece of history. Thanks for sharing.
This is great stuff. I wish I'd have saved my original license from 1966. I'm still a kid and the race car keeps me that way. Randy Bradford www.bradfordsfiat.com
