I could not find a sticky to answer my questions so here goes.I have bought a cut off tunnel ram intake for my stock small block chevy and want to make it into a low buck multi carb intake.Either 3 2bbls or 4 1bbls. Going for the multi carb look not high performance. #1 What is the least expensive 2bbl and 1bbl carbs to buy? #2 Which 2bbls and 1bbls are the easiest to rebuild? #3 Best place to get parts and rebuild kits? #4 Any suggestions or advice? thanks
Rochester 2CG, think '60s GM, are going to probably be the cheapest and easiest to get parts for at the local auto supply. Not a real high tech carb so easy to work on. Holley 350-500 2 barrels are next on my list. Not as cheap as the Rochesters or as easy to come by used. But extremly easy to work on and get parts for. Just think about it stock SBC, 2 350 Holleys, one turned around backwards so the float bowls are facing away from each other. Progressive linkage. It isn't any more carb than a single 700 Holley but you still have a trick setup. Folks will be thinking this cat has got it goin' on. Chicks will be all over ya. Well at least you won't be parked next to yourself at the burger stand. Keep an eye on the cl***ifieds. Good place to find cool chit.
or check out ****ster27 hes a HAMBer..and here is a link to his site http://www.****shotrodplace.com/
The Rochester 2g is the easiest to find and rebuild . Very dependable . Progressive linkage and that is it . Not hard at all . Now if you are not really trying to save the money and would like a really sweet set up with all the fuel line , linkage and ready to bolt on and go , then send a PM to ****ster27 ! He has what you need ready to bolt on and go and his work is top of the line !
