alright i have a 52 chevy sedan with the 235 inline 6 thats not starting. it ran a few months ago, but i replaced the waterpump and it hasnt run since. it sat for about 2 months before i got the new waterpump how it hasnt started since. iv rebulit the carb, replaced the distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires and coil and im running out of ideas. it turns but wont fire. does anyone have any advice?
Condensor could be shorted out or points sticking? Do you have spark to the plugs? Firing order? Check the ignition system thoroughly.
Kool is correct. I know putting the distributor back in is easy. However, check to see if you are getting spark at the plug level through the wires. Make sure your gap is not to tight as well. I just went through this with my flathead. Once I got spark to the plugs, I slowly turned the dist while trying to start it. It was to far retarded and wouldnt fire, as I turned closer to the engine side it fired right up.
If you pulled the distributor, make sure you don't get it 180 degrees out like I did one time, lol...of course that was over 50 years ago. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it...
